2006 Hair Style Trends

The new 2006 hair style trends have been established! Just as clothing fashion changes seasonally every year, so do hair styles. The current “in” styles are based on the hair of celebrities who are in the news most often, but hair styles are also created to compliment current trends in the fashion industry.

Spring and Summer 2006 Hair Style Trends

Experts normally stress that it’s important to have a haircut that can be maintained on a daily basis. For anyone who does not have time to style their hair every morning, a more practical cut may be in order. However, there are many different trendy choices that can make anyone look “chic” and “in” this summer.

Long Hair

The trend for long hair during the summer of 2006 is textured waves. This style is often worn by celebrities Jessica Simpson and Gweneth Paltrow, and it provides a very girly look. The way to achieve long waves with most hair types is to first straighten the hair with a flat iron and then using a curling iron, create long flowing waves. The waves can be pieced apart by using styling products and hair spray.

Short Hair

Many people prefer short hair styles in the spring and summer because they’re not as hot and they’re also easy to style. The 2006 hair style trends for summer have top-heavy layers, which create a cute bounce to the hair.

The other short hairstyle that is in this year is an asymmetrical cut. This type of cut tends to look better on people with very straight hair.

Regardless of the cut, short hair is easy to wash, dry and style and is perfect for any hot summer day.

Bangs

Bangs are in this year! The favorite 2006 bang style are those that are cut at an angle, pushed to the side of the head, and made to cover only part of the forehead. For taller or bigger-boned women, blunt bangs cut or razored across the forehead are also an option. For many people, cutting bangs is a tough decision, but it’s this year’s trend so they are a necessity.

Ponytails

Pulling the hair back into a ponytail is in style for this summer. They can be fashionably worn for a day at the swimming pool, or a ponytail can be worn to a formal evening event. The best way to achieve a trendy-looking pony tail is to pull the hair back using the fingers instead of a comb or brush. This will give the appearance of a non-perfect ponytail… but that’s what’s in!

Highlights

Highlights that are added to hair by a trained professional and made to look classy are always in style. Adding a few different tones to the hair adds a stylish look. However, don’t let the highlights go for too long before getting them re-done.

Short Trends for Men

Men’s hairstyle trends for 2006 are leaning to the short side. Men can cut off all that long hair they’ve been growing and go for a shorter and neater look this summer. Short hair and even crew cuts are in, which makes taking care of the hair incredibly easy.

Medium Length Men’s Hair

For men who simply do not want to go for a very short cut this year, medium-length haircuts are also in style. The look is to wear medium-length hair somewhat messy… like it was just slept on. This style is very convenient for men who can literally roll out of bed and jump in their car to go somewhere.

1970s Sideburns are Out

Sideburns for 2006 should be cut in a classic style, and not take over the entire face. The messy-sideburns look is OUT!
