Cute Hair Updos

From LoveToKnow Hair

If you have medium length or long hair, you are probably always looking for something new to do with it, and some new cute hair updos can liven up your look.

Any updo can use cute accessories.

Varieties of Cute Hair Updos

Sometimes, we want to look elegant. Sometimes we want to look romantic or sophisticated. At work, we usually want to look professional. But a lot of the time, at any age, we want to look just plain cute, maybe with a dash of funky. Unlike more restrictive style eras, such as the 1950s, women are free to do whatever they want with their hair at any time, mostly free of judgment. So on the days you want to look cute, all you need to do is decide what you want to do with your hair and then just do it.

The most basic cute hair updo is any variation on the classic ponytail. A half-pony, lightly tousled and dressed up with a bright scarf or other accessory, is always adorable and fun. You can tuck the end of the ponytail under the top, let it hang free, or turn it into a number of little braids. Try curling the rest of your hair for a bouncier look.

Experts agree that the half up, half down look is the fastest and easiest updo to create and, done correctly, will look great all day.

Mixing Elegant and Cute

Casual can be cute.

A bun is the most classic updo style, but it doesn’t have to look stodgy or dull. A lot of what makes a hair style cute is how you want to play with it. A messy or lightly tousled bun, accessorized with a fun clip or lively head band, is a great cute hair updo.

If your hair is long, you might try braiding your hair and then winding those braids into a bun. If your hair is really long, the ends of the braids can be left to dangle. This is an elegant look, but what will make it cute is how you secure the braids. You can use little girls’ rubber bands and ribbons to add interest and variety to your look, thus combining pretty and sassy.

Or try the classic French twist, which is an easy and comfortable style for someone with long hair. Simply gather your hair at the back of your head as though you were going to put it in a ponytail, then twist it up to the top of your head and secure with any variety of pins – the more colorful, the cuter. If the top of the twist sticks out a bit, curl it with your fingers or a curling iron for extra flair.

Cute Hair Updos for Shorter Hair

Short hair is usually cute on its own and there isn’t a whole lot you can do with it in terms of updos, but if you have a little bit of length and thickness to play with, you can have some fun. What you want is to curl or wave the hair and work it up and backwards, creating body and movement, but also to create a pile at the top that will look adorable. Again, colorful and sparkly clips, pins, and headbands will add to the cuteness and interest.

Of course, if you have short hair and want a fun updo for a special occasion, you can always get hair extensions. These can be bought in any beauty supply shop, but if it is a very special occasion, you should spend a little more money and go to a hair salon to have them put in professionally. This is not only better for your hair, but the extensions will look better and last longer. While you’re there, if you have a particular cute hair style in mind, simply have the stylist do it for you!

From quick and easy styles to more elaborate looks, there are plenty of cute hair updos to try to add sass, flair, and pizzazz to your hair any day of the week.
