Everyday Hairdos
From LoveToKnow Hair
For going to work, school, or dashing around town, everyday hairdos have to be easy and practical, but they absolutely do not have to be boring. Even something that seems “same old” can quickly be made new and fun with an accessory or tiny twist.
Everyone’s Favorite Everyday Hairdo
The 1950s saw the rise of the popular ponytail, worn by teenage girls everywhere. It’s now the go-to hairstyle for women of all ages, provided they at least have medium length hair. What’s not to love? All you have to do is brush back your hair, wrap a ponytail holder around it, tighten it up and voila, instant style. You’re as ready for the gym as the boardroom and your hair is off your face and secured, as well as attractive. You can even run from the boardroom to the theater in windy weather – at most, your ponytail will only need a quick lash with a comb to be as neat as it was in your bathroom.
A ponytail can be worn high, at the crown of the head, or low, at the nape of the neck. The high style is more popular – it’s dramatic, elegant and raises the face. It’s so easy and flattering, it’s a tempting hairdo to wear every day, but you should resist this because you run the risk of thinning the hair if the ponytail is pulled too tight.
Want to add zazz to your tail? Curls, crimps or braids will instantly liven it up. You can also try a ribbon, scarf, flower or other fun accessory for securing the tail.
Elegant Everyday Hairdos
For the long-haired lady who wants to look pretty and put-together, there are several elegant options. Wavy curls are lovely and easy to create. All you have to do is apply some mousse or a similar product to wet hair and then blow dry upside down using the diffuser – this adds volume. You can form the curls with your hands, running small sections through your fingers and gently twisting the hair into the desired shape.
Long and loose hair is wonderful and only needs a few flicks of a hairbrush to put in place, but if your hair tends to fall in your eyes, you want to pin it back at the temples. A semi-Edwardian look, with sections of hair pinned back from the temples, will help you maintain the effect of long and loose hair while also being practical. Simply twist back a chunk of hair and fasten with a barrette. You can twist it all the way to the back of your head and have the sections meet, or just partially and let the ends fall into your loose hair. For a slightly more 1940s look, use combs instead of barrettes and top them with silk flowers.
Gloriously Girly Everyday Hairdos
Braids and pigtails, especially when combined, have a youthful and fun look. They look best when worn low, like Dorothy’s in The Wizard of Oz. Again, you can liven them up with bows, ribbons or other fun accessories.
Simply putting your hair back in a head band, a la Alice in Wonderland has a retro and girlish and yet very modern and sophisticated look. This is a great everyday hairdo that works for long and short hair alike. You can pull out bangs or wear them back if you’re bored of them and you can twist up your loose hair behind or let it hang. With so many fabulous and fun head bands to choose from, you can have a different look every day of the week.
When In Doubt, Cover It Up
If you’re running late and your hair is being impossible, there’s nothing like a bandanna or scarf to just cover it up and call it a look. And a cute look it is. Secure it with some bobby pins, add some flashy earrings and you’re done!
Everyday hairdos are quick, easy, fun, and always stylish. Whether you need to run a few errands, don’t have time for a complicated style, or just want a simple look, you can find a great everyday look that will never be boring.
