Hair Removal Forums
Hair plays a pivotal role in our culture and has done so for eons. Hair is considered beautiful and sexy when it’s in the right place, namely on the top of the head, or on a man’s chest. Hair that appears anywhere else, however, can be deemed unsightly, and at its very worst, unattractive.
Hair removal forums contain a gold mine of information on all the different types of hair removal techniques available, while providing a space, a forum, in which participants can exchange ideas and discuss their thoughts.
The lure of the forum, besides being able to gather up loads of information, is that they provide a safe, and in theory, non-judgmental place where one can express oneself. Let’s first take a look at hair in itself so that we can get an understanding of how hair operates, and then from there, discuss the types of forums.
About Hair
As alluded to previously, hair plays a central role in our culture. Celebrity hair styles, from Jennifer Aniston’s sexy layered cut, to Angelina Jolie’s long loose waves, to George Clooney’s Caesar cut in Gladiator, are actively sought after and coveted. But how does hair work exactly?
There are three types of hair on your skin:
- Vellus is sometimes called "peach fuzz" and is often colorless.
- Intermediate are hairs that are between the vellus and terminal stages. These hairs are fine, but they contain some pigmentation.
- Terminal is the deep-rooted and coarse hairs and can be pigmented or gray.
A hair’s growth cycle also comes in phases:
- The first phase of this cycle is called the anagen phase and it’s the active, growing phase for a hair.
- Catagen is the second stage and it’s a transitional stage for hair.
- The final stage in a hair’s growth cycle is called the telogen phase. This is the stage where the hair is dormant. It stays in this stage until it is shed and is replaced by a new anagen hair.
Forums
Most online forums thoroughly cover all hair removal methods. Those methods are further broken down into categories. Here are those categories and what they entail.
| Category | Type |

| Permanent Methods |
|
| Restricted Methods |
|
| Methods deemed “doubtful” |
|
Notice that a few of the categories listed are considered “doubtful” by some of the sites. Types of hair removal that are restricted in the U.S. are listed and classified in the chart as well.
