Hair Weaves Give the Look of Fuller and Longer Hair

For anyone who has a short hairstyle, or who has long and thin hair, but wants to have the appearance of longer and thicker hair, hair weaves may be the perfect solution. With the addition of weaves, a person can instantly appear to have a new hairstyle full of body. Weaves can be selected to perfectly match a person’s natural hair, or they can be chosen in various textures, colors or shades to add fullness or highlights to a person’s natural head of hair.

Hair extensions and weaves can completely change the way a person’s hair looks. Depending on the type of hair weave added, a person can go from having thin, lifeless hair to having a thick and long head of hair that draws attention and looks of envy from others.

Three Hair Weaving Techniques

Hair weaving is a time consuming process because it involves taking strands of hair and attaching them to a person’s naturally growing hair. One technique for achieving this is having a hairstylist sew the strands of the hair to very small cornrows that have been braided in a person’s natural hair. A second method of adding hair weaves is for a hairstylist to heat the hair weave so that individual pieces of hair can be fused on to a person’s natural hair. A third procedure for adding weaves is to use a fairly new system called, “cold fusion.” This way of adding hair to a person’s naturally growing head of hair is the safest and least damaging method.

Synthetic Hair Fiber

One of the least expensive types of hair to use in hair weaves are those made of synthetic fibers. Synthetic fibers are the least expensive type of hair to use because this type of hair is artificial and contains no human hair. It is a man-made product and is produced by a number of manufacturers. While synthetic hair is a good alternative to human hair, it can never completely replicate the durability and flexibility of natural hair.

Because synthetic hair does not do well with any sort or hair appliance such as a blow dryer or a curling iron, it is not recommended to be used in weaves. Using heated appliances on synthetic hair can cause the hair to melt, which may make it become frizzy or unmanageable.

Human Hair for Hair Weaves

Human hair is the best type of hair to use in a weave. Human hair, for obvious reasons, looks the most realistic when added to a head of existing natural hair for the purpose of body or length. Even though human hair is more expensive to obtain, it is recommended because it can be curled, blow dried, cut, colored, and even highlighted.

Human hair is the most expensive type to purchase because it has been grown by people with the sole purpose of cutting their hair and selling it for use in weaves and wigs. Most human hair is grown by individuals who live in Asian countries, but a good portion of human hair also comes from individuals living in India. The least expensive type of hair that is still considered natural, but not human, is Yak hair. This type of hair is more textured and course, but can still be successfully used in hair weaves.
