Jet Aire Curling Iron System
From LoveToKnow Hair
Finding a piece of the Jet Aire curling iron system (by Caruso) can be a daunting task these days. You'll probably have to resort to auction sites like eBay where one person's trash is another person's treasure. Apparently, though, not many people are letting their Jet Aire curling irons go. A search on eBay only found four listings at the time this article was written. While it's hard to find this retro favorite, it's possible, and if you don't win the auction, there will be more—or at least good alternatives for making your hair curl.
How It Works
The Jet Aire curling iron system does what the name implies: takes your straight or wavy hair to a mass of curly locks (or just adds volume)—and you use it like a curling iron. How it does it is a little different from your average metal or—these days—ceramic curling iron.
To get the curls you want, you put one of the several included rollers onto the wand. Which ones you use are totally up to you; it'll affect the size and tightness of your curls. That's not all the Jet Aire system has on your favorite curling tool, though. Instead of being a solid bar of metal, the Jet Aire system has holes where hot air can flow up through the wand, through the curlers, and set your hair, root to tip.
Just want body? Experiment with the brush attachment many of the curling iron systems from this line come with.
Think of it as a low-powered hair dryer in the shape of a barrel that heats your hair up from the inside rather than from on top. In fact, you could use this to take your hair from wet to dry, though you'd always want to make sure you towel-dried well first or did your makeup and got dressed while waiting for your hair to dry a bit before use. A hair dryer is quicker.
Finding One at an Auction Site
Jet Aire products are among some of the rare items even on auction sites. There are several listings on eBay.com concerning products like:
- The Jet Aire 4 in 1 Hot Air Hair Styling System 36 Piece Set: No information is listed on the eBay listing, but chances are, this one is pretty similar to the Glamour Curl by Lady Remington listed below.
- The Jet Aire Hot Air Professional Hair Styling System 200W: This one comes with eight roller attachments, one brush attachment, and nine plastic clips.
- The Jet Aire Professional Hair Styling Iron Hot Air Wand: This one looks like a regular curling iron with slots in the barrel. It's the simplest, most understated "system" from Jet Aire in the realm of hair curling.
- The Glamour Curl by Lady Remington Jet Aire Styling System: This one has one glamour curl wand, one air brush attachment, fourteen glamour curl rollers in four different sizes, sixteen glamour clips, two spiral rollers, and one glamour girl tote bag, for a total of thirty-five pieces of gorgeous curl-inducing tools. Get whatever kind of curl you want from this one. This one also comes in an "As Seen on TV" box.
If you're looking for one of these on the auction site, be ready to shell out well over $50.
Jet Aire Curling Iron System Alternatives
If you can't find the Jet Aire version of this hair dryer/straightener/curler hybrid product, don't fret. There are only so many up for grabs. If you’ve ever taken an economics class you understand the way supply and demand work. These sets can rise well beyond the "too rich for my blood" mark in no time if enough people have a Jet Aire system on their wish list.
So what's a straight-haired girl to do for body and curl? There are a few options:
- Vidal Sassoon VS425C Professional Hot Air Ion Dryer Styler and Straightener Kit. The name makes it sound like a different type of product all around, but if you take a look, you'll see that it works similarly to the Jet Aire system.
- Revlon's Hot Air Adjustable Barrel Curling Iron Brush. It goes from a 1" to a 1-1/4" barrel, depending on your needs. It also takes your hair from wet to dry, no matter the length.
Never struggle with a round brush and hair dryer again; find just the right curling system for your needs by starting with the Jet Aire curling iron system.
