Laser hair removal procedure.

About the Laser Hair Removal Service

As women age, their fine, vellus hair converts to terminal hair, growing longer, darker, and coarser. This is why many women turn to permanent facial hair removal to eradicate the hairs once and for all. Our confidant (who chose to remain anonymous) recently turned 30 and found the hair on her upper lip was darkening noticeably against her light skin; she’d been plucking stray hairs on her chin for years, but this was a new development. After some research, she opted to visit a local Ideal Image salon.

The Consultation

Her first impression of the facility was one of calmness and peace; the reception area was clean and quiet, tastefully decorated with plants and comfortable furniture. Her appointment was scheduled for mid-afternoon, and because no one else was waiting her consultation began immediately.

The consultant greeted her, offered her a drink, then led her to a private consultation room. They discussed which areas the client would like to have hair removed from, and the consultant tactfully asked to see the area and if she could touch the skin. The consultant explained how the laser would work and showed the client a treatment room. They discussed pricing, and the consultant even made a personalized adjustment to the standard treatment areas based on the client’s particular hair removal needs. The client was encouraged to talk over the procedure with her husband and to compare prices at other treatment salons, with no pressure to make an immediate appointment.

Several days after the initial consultation, the client decided to pursue the procedure, and the same consultant arranged a treatment appointment suitable to her tight schedule.

The Initial Appointment

Again in mid-afternoon, the salon was empty when the client arrived for her first laser hair removal service. She was nervous, and the medical technician patiently explained how she would proceed and even showed her own laser-treated legs, volunteering the information that she hadn’t needed to shave in over three months.

Filling out paperwork took 15 minutes, but the actual laser treatment procedure was very quick. The administering technician took several photos before the procedure, explaining that she would use them during future appointments to show success, and she then used a fresh hand-held razor to gently shave the areas so the laser could target hair at the root rather than focusing on longer strands.

The client was asked to put on heavy, form-fitting goggles to block out any light from the laser, and the technician drew rings around the areas to be treated with white eyeliner while the laser warmed up. To give the client a test of the laser, she offered a quick pulse on the palm of the hand before beginning on the upper lip and chin.

When pulsing, the laser blasted a brief shot of coolness before the hot pulse to help balance the skin’s temperature during treatment. Each individual pulse was slightly more painful than plucking a single hair, but they happened much more quickly. The client noticed that where her hairs were darker the laser felt hotter and more painful, which was expected since the laser targets the dark melanin pigment in hair. After each individual pulse, the technician pressed the spot briefly with her gloved finger to help dissipate the pain, and she also kept up a running commentary about her progress so the client knew what to expect. A simple hand wave let the technician know when to pause, giving the client time to recover from multiple laser bursts.

The 50 or so laser pulses needed to treat the area were finished in less than three minutes, and the client removed her goggles. The smell of scorched hair seemed very bold, but the technician assured her it was only because the work was so near her nose. The technician offered a large mirror right away, and then gently cleaned off the white eyeliner. She also used a cotton swab with aloe gel to soothe the treated area, and within minutes the pain and redness was significantly faded. By the time the client returned to the reception area to schedule her next appointment – five total treatments are required for the best results – the only noticeable change to her face was that the hair was gone.

The Results

Our anonymous client could hardly believe the results of her first treatment; the hair was largely gone from the treated area. Over the next two weeks, however, it seemed to be growing as quickly and darkly as ever, but a follow-up call to the medical technician assured her it wasn’t hair growth. The follicles had been damaged and the skin was gradually pushing out what remained of the hair, so it seemed to be getting longer. After several days, however, the hairs seemed to fall right out rather than needing firm tugs when plucked. After about two weeks of this shedding phase, the hair ceased growing at all for several weeks, and the client looks forward to her next appointment to continue eradicating hair.

I had facial hair that was very upsetting. I have done electrolysis, shaving, waxing, bleaching, creams and medication. I did the electrolysis about five years ago and had absolutely no success. Actually the condition has gotten worse. I am aware of a hormone imbalance that I have due to thyroid problems and female problems. I was waxing 3-4 times a week with tweezing in between before I decided to go to Tat2begone Medical Group. A friend had recommended Tat2begone to me. He had removed a tattoo of his ex’s boyfriend’s name. I had concerns of my own. I worried about whether laser hair removal was for me, could I afford it. I didn’t want to get suckered into another failure. I finally called and scheduled my free consultation. The helpful staff fit me in that night. The nurses were very helpful in giving me information that I needed. I received my treatment that very same visit. I shouldn't have worried at all. Tat2begone’s laser hair removal service is fantastic. I got better results than I ever dreamed possible. I would encourage anyone to go there for that service!
