Los Angeles Beauty Salons
From LoveToKnow Hair
It’s the city of celebrities, and with all of those stars wandering around and needing to look good at all times, no wonder there are more Los Angeles beauty salons than you can shake an Oscar statuette at.
Finding Los Angeles Beauty Salons
When it comes to hunting down Los Angeles beauty salons one of your first stops should be Citysearch, which lists salons according to the rating they've received from site visitors and clients. Not only can you find out a little about the various salons, and the services they offer, you can also read reviews written by actual customers, which will help you get a real feel for the salon and the type of service you're likely to receive there.
Top Salons in L.A.
The top-rated salon on the site at the moment is M2 Studio Salon and Spa on Riverside Drive in Burbank, which scores a perfect 10 from clients.
Specializing in color, hair extensions and nails, M2 is the perfect place to get that film star look, and rates highly for its friendly staff and great atmosphere – important if you're going to be hanging out there for a while having extensions fitted!
Next on the Citysearch list is Jazyhair Salon on Ventura Boulevard, which specializes in permanent hair straightening and also offers special occasion haitstyles, such as updos for weddings and ringlets and curls for proms.
Famous L.A. Salons
Looking for a salon that caters to the rich and famous? One of the most well-known salon names in Los Angeles is Jose Eber. The Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive location of Jose Eber was the first of several on the West Coast; they also have announced future locations in Houston and Las Vegas.
Another renowned Beverly Hills hair stylist is Frederic Fekkai. He claims the following stars as clients: Liv Tyler, Kim Basinger and Julia Ormond. Frederic Fekkai also markets a full line of hair care products.
Christophe is another of the elite salons in Los Angeles. Christophe has counted former president Clinton as well as Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton among his clients. Nicole Kidman, Juliette Lewis and Goldie Hahn have sported Christophe cuts.
Chris MacMillan Salon was responsible for most of Jennifer Aniston's Friends-era hair cuts. The stylists at Chris MacMillan also have served Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox and Rebecca Romijn.
John Freida on Melrose offers pricey cuts and colors to clients who have included Meg Ryan, Madonna and Michelle Pfeiffer. Stylist Sally Hershberger is much sought after and cuts can cost upwards of $400. Frieda's hair care products including Frizz Ease are popular and sold in beauty salons and supply stores everywhere.
Choosing a Los Angeles Beauty Salon
Sites like Citysearch are a girl's best friend when it comes to beauty services, as there's nothing like a personal recommendation to set your mind at rest when you're choosing a stylist. We all know how great a good haircut or manicure can make us feel – and how bad it can be if everything goes wrong!
One of the simplest ways to find a good salon in Los Angeles, then, is to simply ask around. Ask people at work, at school, or anywhere you hang out where they'd recommend, particularly if they always have a great-looking hair style. Once you have a few different salons in mind, take a look at their websites: remember that not all beauty salons are created equal. Each salon will have a different specialty, so if you're looking for a specialist service such as hair extensions or straightening, it's a good idea to try to find a salon that specializes in the service you're looking for, rather than settling for a jack of all trades.
Finally, pop into the salon you settle on before making an appointment, and ask for a consultation. Most good salons will be happy to provide this for free, and it will give you the ideal opportunity to chat to the stylist who'll be looking after you, and make sure you're comfortable with both the stylist and the salon.

Hi Devin, Your best bet is to visit a professional colorist. In order to get extreme looks, such as the white and blue you mentioned, color may need to be stripped from your hair. While strong hair products won't necessarily make you lose your hair, continuous and extreme coloring can be damaging to the hair, so you'll want to use a high quality conditioner and keep your hair moisturized to keep it healthy.

You should investigate some different ones to check out their programs and decide if you like where they are and how they teach. Also check their tuition prices and whether or not they offer financial aid and career assistance. Best wishes!
