Is dandruff a problem?

About Nexxus Products

Nexus means "binding together" or "connecting." When father and son team, Jheri and Stephen Redding combined their skills and expertise, a high-quality product was born that went from nothing to fame very quickly after the company's creation in 1979.

Jheri knew the business side, having had a hand in the launches of Jheri Redding Products Co., Redken, and Jhirmack Enterprises. His son, Stephen, knew his stuff when it came to the beauty aspect of it all. Together, they were able to come up with a fitting name for a line of amazing products using antioxidants, vitamins, botanicals, and proteins for amazing hair care.

The line encompassed shampoos, conditioners, and styling products for all types of hair. That's where Nexxus' dandruff shampoo comes in.

For those animal lovers out there, you'll be glad to know that they do no animal testing, and they claim they never will.

Why Dandruff Occurs

The experts can't really agree on what causes dandruff. There are a number of external and internal causes. Narrowing it down to the one that causes yours could be challenging. Nexxus Dandruff shampoo, though, seems to help such a wide variety of cases, it's worth a try.

If you want to try to get to the root of your scalp problems, here is a list of possible contributors to dandruff:

  • Hormonal issues
  • Poor nutrition or general health
  • Stress and/or lack of sleep
  • Allergies
  • Too many styling products or using products high in alcohol content
  • Not washing hair often enough or getting all of the shampoo or conditioner out when you rinse
  • Dry air (winter temperatures combined with indoor heating)

If you've been through all the dandruff shampoos you can buy at the drugstore and you still can't shake your flakes, it may be time to seek the help of a dermatologist. He or she can prescribe stronger shampoos or other treatments to rid you of your itchy, flaky scalp forever. It's best to start out with milder treatments to see if they'll help before branching out into the more powerful treatment territory.

Nexxus Dandruff Shampoo

Nexxus Dandruff shampoo is called Dandarrest. It's designed for dandruff control that handles the dry, flaky dandruff (seborrhea sicca) as well as oily dandruff (seborrhea oleosa). Furthermore, this shampoo promises to add body and shine. What more could you ask for than flake-free, bouncy, shiny hair? Sounds like a winner.

Need a push to try to find it? Read any reviews you can find online regarding Nexxus dandruff shampoo. You'll see comments like, "The only one that works!" However, it appears hard to find. Nexxus apparently pulled it off most shelves in 2006.

Finding Nexxus

Wear black confidently!

If you're interested in buying it and would pay anything just to get rid of the flakes so you can wear black or navy blue with confidence again, you're in luck. You won't have to pay an arm and a leg to take care of your hair — Dandarrest runs about $10.00 and is available at some drugstores (like Walgreens). The bottle size at that price is 10.1 oz.

In some cases, Dandarrest may seem impossible to find. If you have problems, search eBay or Amazon.com. You can find some great deals on products that seem to be discontinued (whether they are or they aren't). Dandarrest isn't listed as one of the shampoos on the Nexxus website anymore.

Some drugstores may still carry Nexxus dandruff products. If your local one doesn't, try Walgreens.com or the websites of your favorite pharmacy.

Try Nexxus' line and see what you think. It's raved about in many reviews: it could just be the ten dollar solution to a nearly lifetime problem you’ve been looking for.

The Good News

Due to consumer requests on the Nexxus website, the company is considering bringing Dandarrest back. Reports say it was to be re-released into the Signature Line during the July of 2007. It may take a while for it to show up in all your most convenient places to shop, but rest assured, it's on the way!
