Scene Haircuts
From LoveToKnow Hair
If you believe the ultra hip Urban Dictionary, scene haircuts can be varied. What really matters is what you make of it and how you personally "play it".
Work That Scene Hair
Scene hairstyles are all about how you carry it. You can have the most ‘scene’ hair in the room and it won’t make a lick of difference if you can’t make this look work with your scene personality.
Which Scene Haircuts Are Hot
First things first…
If you’re scene, and I know you are; what’s the first rule? Do you know it?
If you said that your hair never stops evolving bonus points to you. This is scene hair we’re talking about. When it comes to scene haircuts, if it’s sitting still it’s stale and pretty much over. When was the last time you thought about changing that haircut you have? Yesterday? Last week? Unless you said a few hours ago it’s not scene. Start thinking because soon it’s going to be time for a change – try a change of cut, a change of color, a change of accessories, or any other change but don’t sit still. And don’t let your hair sit still either.
There’s Not a Standard Cut
It’s hard to pin down the perfect scene haircut because typically it’s not really one scene that defines the hair. Scene individuals and the hair attached to them come in different flavors that usually correspond to their tastes in music, friends, type of club they hang at, and clothing.
Pulling off your scene haircut with confidence will take you far. Looking for ideas? Turn to music. Scenesters tend to levitate towards one of the following: pop 80s, new wave, indie, hardcore, metal, retro classic, and even more – see how it’s getting hard to define the ultimate scene haircut? The scenes vary. Looking to your favorite genre of music can point you in the direction of the hair that’s perfect for you.
Still, if you absolutely, positively need an explanation of some perfect scene haircuts let’s look at some common cuts.
- Shaggy, choppy, blunt: Scissors are not your friend in this hair scenario. Act like the scissors went at your hair with wild disregard and you just might end up with perfect scene hair. These are hair styles that cut across your bangs, but never straight; move the scissors at an angle and then back again.
- Androgynous hair is good: Boy or girl? If someone can tell which one you are from your haircut; sorry, that makes you way less scene. Scene hair tends to honor both boys and girls equally, meaning what works for one should work for both. Now, with everyone having short and long hair styles regardless of gender, you should be able to pull either kind of cut off well.
- Wild: Mohawks without shaving the sides of your hair works well in some scenes. Teased, stacked, or layered, any cut that beats what you see in your typical office setting is a good plan. Spike your hair just in the back and go for a shaggy cut in the back.
- Shy: Shy hair is nice and may look demure but work it right and it becomes scene. You know what shy hair is – long bangs that sweep down and cover your eyes; hair that flows in front of your face when you walk. Shy hair you can hide behind. You know and everyone else knows that when you toss that hair aside that you and your scene hair have arrived.
Scene Haircut Additives
- Accessories are hot for scene hairstyles and cuts. Little bows, big bows, tiny sparkles, and other additives are the norm. If you want to try something really different why not go natural. Make the new hair your own by not having a hair accessory. What’s more scene than doing something new?
- You cannot be scene and have boring old brown hair. Add some color! Real scene go-getters add more than one color. Think not of this world color. If it was around when people were made then it isn’t scene. Go as striking black as you can or white blonde. Try straw colored scene haircuts with orange streaks. "Skunk" it with black with white tips. You decide. Be the most scene you can be – don’t just follow the trends.

-- Contributed by: LilyTWinFTW - You don't have to get a different hair color to have a great, personalized look. You'll want to opt for a slightly edgier style so it stands out more with just the cut, but you can also use styling products to give your hair some piecy ends and other effects that will look great no matter what color it is.
