Summer Hair Cuts
From LoveToKnow Hair
Summer hair cuts can make you look and feel better in warm weather. The summer is a good time to treat yourself to a new look, and the most popular summer cuts are shorter styles with lighter color that take advantage of the sun.
Summer Hair Cuts and Layers
Cut your hair into short swanky layers for the summer. Razor cuts are popular because they give the hair a textured, chunky, carefree look. Layers that enhance your natural curl are great. One of the most popular styles includes layers and flipped curls. This look will give you a windblown look that is exotic and a little wild. Use hairspray to freeze the hair into place, and for extra pizzazz, try dying your hair blond or red. Highlight or a bit of glitter in hairspray can easily transform this look into a sassy nighttime look.
Inverted Bob
Inverted bob hair styles are another summer haircut that is perfect for hot weather. This style will allow your neck and shoulders to get fresh air, yet your hair still has some length. The back of the bob is shorter and the sides are longer, sometimes angling toward the cheekbones.
The inverted bob is a good look for the office, since most people still have to work during the summer months. The bob gives your hair a little more bounce than longer styles. One of the best things about bobs is that they are attractive and easy to maintain. You can just wash your hair and go.
Short and Curly
Super-short and curly hair styles are another good example of a wash and go style. Hair that is naturally curly or kinky can be cropped close to the head into an attractive summer cut that is virtually maintenance free. The hair can be cut shorter on the sides for a neater, tapered look. Use a little gel or pomade while the hair is damp to enhance the curls and control frizz in this hair-do and you are on your way.
Stacked Layers
Hair that is short in the back and longer as it rises up the head is cut into stacked layers. This cut gets its name because the ends of hair appear to be stacked on top of layer after layer. Typically, the hair in the back is stacked, and the sides of the hair are cut longer. Stacked layers work well in curly hair or even straight hair. Stacked layers add volume to the hairstyle and are great for short or medium length styles.
The Pixie
Pixie cuts work well in naturally straight or relaxed hair. This style is also low-maintenance for people with naturally straight hair. Ladies with curly or kinky hair will need chemical treatments to obtain this sleek cut. The pixie is a short cut, usually with bangs. The hair is layered, but is cut so that it lies flat and is no longer than the top of the ear. The back reaches just to the nape of the neck. Ladies with naturally straight hair can wash their hair and go. It doesn't hurt to sleep with a satin scarf to keep the hair straight and to prevent tangles in fine hair.
Mohawks
With a short cut and plenty of gel, it is possible to get a mohawk. Actually the sides of the hair are shorter and the hair on the crown of the hair is longer in a mohawk. The style, made popular by punk rockers in the 1980s, has made a comeback. This style is a bit rebellious and definitely eye-catching, but the modern version is tamer. Hair is left on the sides of the head, not shaved completely. Instead, the hair is maneuvered to the top of the head and sprayed into place into a messy triangular shape.
The Mohawk and other summer hair cuts focus on shape, movement, and brevity. Most of the short hair styles for the summer are no fuss and easy to maintain, perfect for long hot days and fun-filled nights.
