Trendy Hair Styles
Trendy hair styles come and go. Remember when the feathered look was in? How about when “big” hair was in during the 1980s? It’s a blessing that some of these styles are no longer popular. Pictures from the 1970s, 1980s, or any other decade, are vivid reminders of just how outrageous and downright bad certain hair styles looked.
However, everybody thought those hair styles looked great at the time… so they were a necessity. Hair not parted down the middle in the 1970s was an outcry, and non-permed hair in the 1980s was practically a crime. Today, in 2006, there are trendy looks that are just as popular as the styles of decades earlier, and people wearing these cuts are showing others that they care about how they look, and that they are fashionable.
What Influences Trends?
Trendy hair styles are definitely influenced by celebrities – including movie, music, and television stars. Back in the 1990s, when the television show “Friends” was popular, practically every girl aged 30 and younger told their hair dresser they wanted the “Rachel” cut.
Today, some of the most popularly imitated celebrities are Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Jennifer Lopez. However, there are several others, including male celebrities, who have influenced how the world is currently wearing its hair.
Other factors that always influence current hair trends are styles that go well with contemporary clothing fashions and the season of the year.
Current Trendy Hair Styles for Older Women
Women over the age of 40 are not necessarily “old,” but compared to teenagers, they are definitely not youngsters. Hair trends for teenagers are always slightly different than trends for mature women. This is not to say, however, that grown women cannot be trendy with their hair!
If a woman over the age of 40 thinks that Paris Hilton’s hair looks cute, there is absolutely no reason that she cannot get a Paris Hilton cut – with small adjustments. Good hairstyles are not cut and dry (no pun intended). They can be varied and modified to suit a particular person’s likes and dislikes. In regard to a person’s age, a cute and trendy cut can be made more mature looking by slightly altering the cut’s length or the accessories worn with it.
Men Have Many Choices
Today’s trendy hair styles for men have great ranges. It’s currently in style for men to have short, medium, or long hair – or to even have a bald head. Of course, there are particular cuts that are trendier than others, but in general, men have quite a selection of current styles from which to choose. Like women, men’s hair styles are influenced by male celebrities and other popular male figures.
For men, not only is a hair cut important, but the way in which sideburns are worn is just as essential. Trends for how to wear side burns go in and out just as quickly as hair styles themselves. A good stylist should be able to provide tips on how long or short side burns should be worn so that they look good, trendy, and fashionable.
Short or Long?
Hair can look trendy when it is either short or long, as long as it has a modern cut. For example, hair that is allowed to grow and grow and grow until it reaches the floor is definitely out of style. But, long hair that is cut correctly can look cute and “in.”
Many will argue that the only way to stay trendy is to wear a short hair cut. Yet, it is sometimes hard to take the plunge and drastically cut long hair. The fact is, however, that trendy short hair cuts are perfect for today’s modern woman who is always on the go. Short hair takes far less time to style, and it is much more flexible in terms of ease of changing styles from one day to the next.
