Yes a human hair wig can be colored highlighted and permed. Every chemical service that can be done our hair can be done to a human hair wig.But human hair wigs are costly and before you go ahead and try it yourself it would be to your advantage to take it to a professional who deals with wigs. What ever service you want to have done to the wig make sure the stylist does a test on one of the strands located at the bottom of the wig so you will know what to expect. REM. color does not lift color. If your wig already has a perm. color you will need another chemical to strip the color, so the only thing you can do is go darker or do highlights. not only do you have to take in account the hair condition but the elastics and lace that the base of the wig is made of. Chemicals can wear them down. Hope I was of some help. Love Lady Bug Holiday

It would be best to see a professional, or preferably to visit a wig shop and inquire about any dying services they may offer. They may also have specially formulated wig-dye kits available for home use.

-- Contributed by: MayntzI have natural blond, never been colored or permed, 20 inch length hair that I'd like to sell to a wig maker, and I'm wondering how to go about doing this, and how much wig makers pay for natural hair? Thank you, Rebecca Johnson-Looney

You could, however, consider donating your hair to make wigs as a lovely gesture of support for your sister. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: Mayntzmy sister has lost her hair. We have the same hair color and texture. I am wondering about the possibility of cutting my hair and using it in a wig for her. How do I go about finding a wig maker who will do this for us. How long does my hair have to be for the wig maker to utilize it?
Laura -- It would depend on the materials the synthetic wig is made out of and how frequently it is worn. Poorly constructed wigs can cause snarls and snags in your natural hair, which will lead to hair loss. There are many reputable manufacturers, however, who can provide wigs that should not damage your natural hair if worn properly. I'd recommend checking with different companies in your price range to find just what you want.
