who wrote this article? there are some interesting facts and info but unfortunately the annoying AD covers the top half of the article and blocks me from being able to read it. :-(

also about "celebrities with blonde hair"...uhh i don't think all of that information is ACCURATE. simpson and aguilera have DARK roots so i'm pretty sure they're not naturally blonde. kelly clarkson has always had DARK hair which you can see from when she was on american idol.

Katielee - You can dye your eyebrows at the same time you do your hair, if the color difference is too noticeable, or just thinning out your brows can help them appear lighter. The best color to choose is one that's only 2-3 shades lighter than your natural color so it will blend in nicely and still match your skin tone. Best wishes!

im naturally a dirty blonde (on the darker side) and i have brown to black eyebrows what color blonde should i do without it looking fake? lowlites?

Lorraine - Be sure to consult a stylist so you can get the right hair color for you, and you can try to color match the shade with pictures and such to find a blonde you like. Best wishes!

That's very true, Ann, hair color can be challenging to maintain but proper care will lead to a fabulous look. Thanks for sharing!

Good conditioning and regular salon visits are a must. Blonde is worth it for me. It is true blondes have more fun but you have to be willing to be a disciplined beauty and willing to maintain it!

Blonde - Any hair color will need to be touched up regularly to keep looking its best, but it's true that blonde hair may need even more frequent care because of its light shade and how noticeable changes can be. Before you decide to color your hair, be sure you're ready to keep it up!

hi blonde hair is great but i livved an expirience with it later on it turns white it starts to look old and ugly you have to keep thehighlites over and over again.

-- Contributed by: blonde hair

Dirty Blonde - Red hair can be challenging to dye, but first the colorist would need to dye your base shade to a suitable blonde. Then they could add highlights to brighten the tone if you're interested. Be warned, however, dying red hair blonde can have poor results that lead to orange tones. You'd be better going to a brunette shade or a much darker blonde.

Kimber - Ash tones can turn silverish or bluish; you may want to add some subtle hair lowlights shades to balance out the color, and consider using a different dye formula next time to find one that will work better with your hair.

Cindy - Pregnancy can definately affect hair color and growth, and yes, it's because of the different hormone levels. It will return to normal!

Elisa, While people of certain heritage (such as Scandanavian) may more commonly have fine, light colored hair, today many people have naturally blonde hair that is wavy, curly, or thick. If you want the look of straighter hair, you may want to check out our sedu how to guide. There are many great stylish options for curly hair, as well, though! i have naturally blonde hair , but mine are thick , curly adn ok really blonde. im europian mediterrean descent , is this normal cos generally blonde hair is supposed to be straight and fine??

I have naturally blond hair, but is slowly getting darker. A strange thing that has occurred to my hair is that when pregnant my hair goes dark brown and once the baby is born returns to the almost still blond color it was, strange? I've been told hormones. So I end up with this ring of darker hair around my head until it grows out.

Jen, The sun can fade color-treated hair, so you want to protect it. Wear a hat or bandana in the sun if you can, or make sure to use hair products that contain UV protectants. There are some products specifically designed to protect hair from sun as well, such as Phytologie, available from the Peter Louis Salon.

Hi Lucie, I colored my hair blonde for many years, and when I finally decided to let it go back to my natural color (medium brown) I had a rinse put on by a professional that was close to my natural color. Getting regular trims will help, too. Good luck!

ive had blonde hair all my life and its ruining my hair, so im just letting my roots grow, does anyone no how to make my roots a tad less visible please? x

Hi! I have recently put highlights and lowlights in my hair and i am wondering if sunlight will cause the blonde in my hair to turn orange, or an ugly color? Or if the sun will only cause it to turn a little lighter? I am asking this as i enjoy to tan by the pool and i do not want my hair color to be destroyed.

-- Contributed by: Jen

Hi Bambi, If you used a darker colored dye on light hair, it may be difficult to get back to blonde without professional assistance. Temporary hair colors usually do not light hair drastically. You may want to consider a color consultation with a professional to get the color you want. Another option is to get lowlights since they are usually gentler on hair than lighteners. This may also make your current shade appear brighter.

Hi, i use to have natural blonde gold highlights from the sun so most of my hair was a beautiful blonde gold colour than my natural hair colour light-medium brown. I put a rinse in and it got rid of all my blonde highlights. Now my hair is just medium brown, how can i get it that gold natural blonde colour again without bleach ( im not allowed to dye hair because that has bleach in it ) should i get a fullhead of foils? ( mind you i dont want to look all stripy like a tiger if i do will it blend in? ) do rinses work? do they actually change the colour of hair even though it only last 8 washes? mind you my eyebrows are very drak almost black please tell me how i can get my hair my natuarl gold blonde colour again?

-- Contributed by: Bambi

Hi Jennie, Here are a couple of thoughts for you: If you do decide to go blonde - get it done professionally. Dark hair may need professional colr stripping products to prevent the hair from turning red, orange, or brassy when trying to lighten. You may also want to consider how often you'll have to maintain such as drastic color change - you'll need touch ups approximately every four weeks or so if you don't want the roots to be noticable. Since at your age you're most likely busy with school and other activities, you may want to consider highlights or a combination of hair lowlights and highlights. These can have a dramatic look, but you can usually go longer between touch ups. Lastly, consider your skin tone before you make a drastic change - if you choose blonde, make sure the specific shade works with your coloring.

I 14,and i have naturally dark brown hair, all of my friends have the same colour naturally as me,but they have blonde hair,i really want to have a drastic change and dye it blonde! but i dont know if i would suit it or not.what do you think i should do?

Thank you for your reply :)

I often do use such products, however using the leave-ins or very heavy conditioners often make my blonde hair look very dull :( I will keep looking however.

Thanks again.

Maggie - There are hair products available specifically for wavy and curly hair from several different manufacturers; you can try different brands to see what works best for you. Because your hair is coarse, be sure you are using a good quality conditioner so it won't snag and tangle as easily, and a leave-in conditioner or smoothing serum can help even it out more. Best wishes!

I have extremely thick, coarse, unruly naturally blonde hair (close to platinum). I am always at a loss as to how to take care of it. It is very dry however it is also very wavy/curly and thick. Do you have any suggestions for products for my hair combination?

-- Contributed by: maggie

Cindy - Yes, the shampoo should still work just fine to clean the hair and it may even help enhance any brunette shade hair lowlights. Check carefully, however; some shampoos formulated for specific colors will actually deposit color on the hair, which can darken blonde hair if the wrong color is used.

Can a natural blonde use a brunette shampoo over the blonde?

-- Contributed by: Cindy

April - While a professional job would have the best results, you could try different dyes available on the market. Get a stronger formula to ensure you can cover the darker shade, or opt for highlights that can help until the dark color grows out more.

my natual hair color is dirty blonde...i died it brown a couple months ago...and then i wonted to die it a darker brown and it came out black i wont it back blonde but i cant aford to get it done professionaly, what is the best and cheapest way to get my hair back blonde?

"Blondes don't bleach so don't refer to them as Blonde or Bleached Blonde. "

In response to that comment, when people use the term 'bleached blonde' it is NOT referring to all shades of blonde only the bleached out kind inorder to get that shade that some people have.

I think what Carol said was catty and completely irrelevant to this article. Dyeing your hair does not make you superficial. If women want to dye their hair a different colour, that's their prerogative.

I dye my hair blonde (my hair is naturally dark brown) and it looks far from fake. Since I was born with very light skin and eyes, my dark locks made me look vampy and washed out. There are so many different shades of blonde in both warm and cool colour pallets that it's almost impossible to not find a shade that looks natural.

-- Contributed by: Desiree

Blondes don't bleach so don't refer to them as Blonde or Bleached Blonde. Brunettes are the bleached ones and they are Bleached Brunettes. If you think you're worth that name go for it. Otherwise just have your own naturally beautiful hair.

If you have read what sara says, she is so right, then you have to worry about getting the roots done and they never look the same has the rest of the hair, that look to me a no go keep your natural colour, make the most of your facial looks, make up.use alice bands, hair clips, glitter bobbles, make the most of your own natural beauty, and you cant go wrong, the celebs do look fab,but its not there doing,us women focus to much on them, you are you and LOVE IT.

I'd suggest that you change your mind and not dye your hair blonde. if you are a brunette, your eyes and skin are compatible with brunette hair. blonde hair can look very fake on a natural brunette because reaching a pure shade of blonde without orangey/yellow tones is near impossible-and damaging. talk about split ends!

hey!!! i want to dye my hair blonde n i have a dark rich brown... everybody wants brown hair when there blonde n everybody wants blonde hair when there brown. im afriad to die my hair b.c im afriad the damage will soon come out later on and then ill have to chop of my long beautiful hair .... im scared n confused n seriously need help b.c i straighten and curl my hair ... but trim it every 2 months getting rid of the messy dead n split ends ~~ S.O.S pleez !! i want to save my hair from damage but i want to look good too!!

Hi-

I highlight my hair a light blonde color in a salon. I must say that highlighting is less expensive and less time consuming, but dying your hair looks much better. Highlighting your hair creates a longer time for root care because they grow out unevenly, because of the weave. If I were to dye my hair, it would be every 3 weeks for $120 each visit. But highlighting it costs the same for every 5-6 weeks. I recommend highlighting your hair blonde professionally, not only because you can control dimensions, but also because the roots take longer to grow out and money isn't a huge factor. I also recommend Boots' Botanics Shimmering Blonde Color Enhancer Shampoo. Other shampoos such as John Freida cause brassiness to blonde hair when mixed with water due to some ingredients in the shampoo. The Boots' shampoo is all natural ingredients which smells amazing and makes your hair look as blonde as you had it when you first dyed it. You can get it in Target by the Boots' makeup section.

Hi, I have dark blonde hair and I hate it, I dyed it lighter about 4 months ago and my roots are showing and inch already, what can i do so my hair wont be two different colors when i dye it?

-- Contributed by: Cori

Hi Taylor,

One of the easiest ways to keep blonde hair looking vibrant is with a color enhancing shampoo, like those from Redken, John Freida, and Pantene Pro-V Expresssions. These have components to bring out the natural highlights, shine, and sparkling color of your hair, and are available at many salons, department, and drugstores.

I have naturally blonge Hair. I want to know what I can do to my hair to keep it looking a VIBRANT Blonde.

-- Contributed by: Taylor

Hi Gina, You may want to visit a professional hair salon -- they may be able to correct your color. You may also want to consider highlights rather than going completely blonde (sometimes this works better for darker hair). Best of luck!
