Priyanka - To help the curl hold better, first try a higher heat setting and hold the iron in your hair longer. That will help set the curl better. You can also try using hair spray or gel in your hair, but take care that the product won't damage your hair further when it is heated. You may also want to consider getting a perm for stronger curl, particularly if your hair doesn't react well to a curling iron. Best wishes!

i used a curling iron and the curl wasnt curly it just fell down , should i put hair gel before using curling iron? or hair creame to make it last longer and look curlier?

Hana - Ideally, you want to use the lowest setting that will give you the curl you want. If your hair is hard to manage, very thick, or coarse, it will require higher heat to hold the curl. Using the lowest effective setting will help minimize any heat styling damage from the curling iron. Best wishes!

what heat setting should i use?

Nancy - It may be that you're leaving the ends of the hair in the clip too long; ends are naturally more brittle and easier to damage, so try not to keep them curled as long even if you have to do one section of hair in several steps. Also, apply a heat protectant or leave-in conditioner to the ends of the hair to help keep them moisturized while you are styling. Remember too that ends should be trimmed every 8-10 weeks to keep them looking their best.

How do you avoid frying the ends of the hair when you insert the hair into the iron's clip? Whenever I put the ends in the clip, the ends come out looking horrible! Please help!

Chelsea -- It depends on the type of cleaning it needs as well as the materials the iron is made of. Consult the instruction book for details, or if you don't have it anymore, you can look under the manufacturer's website online for that type of information.

How do you clean the curling iron?

Helene -- It really depends on how you use the dryer or the iron. In basic terms, the curling iron would be much rougher on hair because it is concentrated heat applied directly to the hair, whereas the dryer doesn't actually touch the hair and is spread over a wider area. The intensity of the heat setting, how long the tools are used, and how frequently you use them all make a difference, though. Always try to add moisturizing products to your regime when you use heat styling, and use it as little as possible to protect your hair's natural beauty.

I would like to know which is harder on your hair salon dryer or using a curling iron.

Kristie -- You just have to be careful when removing the iron; be sure to release the hair and move the iron away from you. Practice with the front and sides first to get a good feel for your technique, or have someone help you with the back if you're still not comfortable with it.
