Peg - Caramel would be a lovely shade to use. In general, stick to something only 2-3 shades lighter than your base color. Check out Right Hair Color for You for more tips.

I color my hair Dark brown. Would like a partial highlight{perimeter}.I would like a suble color, nothing drastic. Should I get the stylist to use a carmel shade? Don't want red or blonde. Any Ideas?

Orange Hair - You'll want to be sure you're seeing an experienced colorist, not just any stylist who does color. More exclusive salons and day spas often have higher credentials and may be able to work well with damaged and difficult hair. Also, be sure you talk with them extensively and let them know all the products you use so they can choose a dye that won't react with bad results.

I want my hair color to be blonde. I am naturally brown and gray. No matter what my hairdressor does, My hair is orange after the color or highlight. Any advice?

Angela - Your best course of action would be to consult a professional stylist at a local hair salon. They can examine your hair health and texture to recommend options that will work specifically for you. How frequently you'll need to dye your hair depends on how dark your natural shade is and how quickly your hair grows -- typically, color needs to be redone every few weeks to keep it looking great and natural.

S.M. - You've obviously had a reaction to the coloring chemicals, and if your hair stayed the pretty brunette shade for over a week, I'd say it's probably a reaction to something you put on your hair after it was colored. You'll need to consult with a stylist experienced in color repair to determine the exact problem and how to fix it.
