I want to let my hair grow so that I can cut it in many long layers! I've seen emo girl hair cuts and they look awesome! They look as if they had really thick hair. I'm losing my hair and it's taking a while to grow like I want it to, but this look is definitely worth it...

Hi Unique,

Cutting and self-harming are very dangerous behaviors. It is not true that just because a person has an emo hairstyle that she or he engages in bodily mutilation.

As for curly emo hair - there are several style options,such as:

Putting the back curls in a tight but messy ponytail and spiking out the ends
Using bobby pins to on some of the side and back hair
Mousse or gel it into placed with a side ponytail
A shorter style and a few layers might make it easier and take less time to straighten

First of all do u have to cut urself to be emo? Anyways ummm... Im gonna do an emo hairstyle i have it all in my head im gonna dye my hair jet black and im gonna have bright red in it...i was thinkin like a splotch of it one a bang that covers my left eye and i'll put the bright red in streaks of my hair but very thin .. I'll texturize it and spike it up some days but the problems is i have curly hair... And im too lazy to wake up ever morning to straighten it so i could straighten the bang and leave the rest of my hair curly or would it look gay? Or should i get off my lazy butt and wake up early

To get that cool EMO look, you can always get "manic panic" and add it on ur hair without bleaching. The outcome will most likely be a highlite tone. In the sun light though, can make the color pop! my hair is browm and I use Fuschia Shock. It is a lovely deep pink in the SUN!

omg. soo i would do JUST ABOUT ANYTHING for a scene/emo haircut..but it has everything i dont! i have medium length, dirty blonde hair. EXCEPT ITS CURLY. i dont know if emos have curly hair..and im not sure if i can straighten it everyday! and idk about my mother on dying it either. I NEED SOME HELP puh-lease!!!!!!!!!

to noname: poser is a word thought up by paranoid people who think everyone else is trying to steal their style. If you truely like something and want to wear it, you're not a poser.

If you don't want to be seen as something you're not, go with what you want!

I had very long, blonde hair most of my life until I finally realized I wanted something totally different. I've gone through about a million hairstyles and haircolors, and I've finally found the perfect one that fits my personality. My hair is light blonde with side bangs, and the sides of my hair are longer than the back. Some of my pieces of hair are different colors.

It's all about finding what you like. If you stick with what you personally like, you're NOT a poser.

I have an 'emo' cut. I adore it. And would recommend it to anyone, but don't copy someone elses, make it your own. Trust your hair stylist to give you the funk cut that's right for you. That's emo =]

why are there so many styles but ppl are yet to let someone outside a group in to call them a poser... do i have to look a certain way to fit in with ppl i fall closes to being like. im black and for my hair to be striaght is hard enough as it is... not saying that i cant. but its a very hard thing. how can i be excepted....

I am 32, and have always done my hair "emo", even back in the day when emo was not yet emo. Because of my job, being in nursing, I was not allowed to really "go wild" with hair colors or cuts, due to having to tie my hair back to work with patients. I recently had a nervous breakdown, a semi mid life crisis, and had to move in with my parents, quit my job, until I am done with therapy. Your article was good, but you really didn't explain how to cut your own hair. I do not trust a stylist with this particular hair style, I do it myself. Great article otherwise.

Hi. I am an emo/scene chick already. I love wearing my hair different than others. I try to change it up when others around me try to copy. I like to keep them guessing. I don't like it when people copy me. I love people who are unique and themselves. This article was good but I think you should talk about how to do-it-yourself cut your hair. Some people can't afford what the salons can do. Just go to Walmart and buy some dye and just chop it how you like it. Be unique, that's all that matters.

Hi, i REALLY want to at least dye my hair black and cut it shorter... its about at my elbow..:D so i wanna cute it and dye it but my mom wont let me cuz she says' you cant do anything with it when its that short' and i know there are some hairstyle out there when you cut it that short i just dont know what.

P.s You article was GREAT i really liked it i learned more than i thought i knew. o and idk if you need this but im 12 going on 13 so if that help wit a hairstyle i would really enjoy it!
