Thank you for sharing that information, Kathy, it's a great resource!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI too was looking for someone to take the gray hair. Didn't want to give it to someone who would either toss it or sell it.
-- Contributed by: LJI just found a place that will take gray hair and use it to make wigs for those who have lost their hair due to medical reasons. It is World of Wigs in S. California. The phone number is (714) 547-4461. The address is: World of Wigs, Attn. Silver Generation Fund, 2305 E. 17th St., Santa Ana, CA 92705. I thought I'd pass this information on to the rest of you!
-- Contributed by: KathyI had my hair cut a week ago. The braid that was cut off at the salon is 12 inches long, but is grey. I can't seem to find if there is an organization that I can donate it to for older adults going through chemo. Any suggestions?
-- Contributed by: KathyThanks for sharing, Rhonda - it's always great to have anothe resource to turn to.
-- Contributed by: MayntzWigFund.org accepts donations of gray hair to be used in wig making for people with medically related hair loss.
-- Contributed by: Rhonda T.Mary Kelly - That sounds like it would be a lovely color combination, but whether or not the dye would hold up depends on your hair type and how healthy it is. You can get a color consultation from an experienced stylist for personalized recommendations. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI want to highlight my gray hair with dark brunette strands. Is this possible and will the dye hold up? Thanks, Mary
-- Contributed by: Mary KellyHi Elizabeth, Some places accept gray hair for donation and others don't -- basically it depends on the specific rules of the organization. Gray hair that hasn't been colored is accepted by Locks of Love, but not for wigs - it will be sold and the money donated for cancer patients. -- Contributed by: Amy FinleyI have gray hair and want to know if i can donate my hair if so, where?
-- Contributed by: Elizabeth GearyErin - If your hair color is really a problem, I'd suggest consulting with a professional colorist. Using blonde to cover darker hues -- especially bold ones -- can be tricky, and it may require a base coloring first. A colorist can help you achieve the shade you're interested in with the least hassle or hair damage.
-- Contributed by: MayntzUsing an ash in a medium shade to cover bleached orange red shade. any ideas?
-- Contributed by: ErinGlenda - We are not a wig manufacturer and do not work with any to take donations. Check out these articles for more details on donating hair: Donating Hair for Cancer Victims and Locks of Love.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have long gray hair and I would like to donate it for cancer patients. Do you accept gray hair and what is the length for it?

I started getting gray hair when i was around 10 or 11. It runs in my family, my dad got them in high school. I colored it for a long time, but at 16, I stopped. I'll be 18 soon, and almost all of my shoulder length hair is gray. I like it and I get compliments all the time. So personally, I like the naturally gray look.

I'd lay off the chemicals for a bit and focus on keeping your hair moisturized and healthy. A lot of women would love to have the natural highlights you have!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have a question.. I'm 19 years old and I just noticed that I have highlighted strands of white hair throughout my head. Is that from dying and/or blow drying too much?

My question is.My skin is fair. when in my youth it was peachy and I loved corals and neutrals and spring colors. But, now that I am almost totally gray, What abouth makeup colors and clothing colors now. Should I change? Autumnmorn
-- Contributed by: autumnmornHi Tammy,
Professional color-removal products may work more effectively to restore the gray/white you desire, so you may want to visit a salon, or at least purchase the color removal kit from a beauty supply store. Applying a dye in a shade close to your natural gray color, after the brown dye is removed, may be another alternative to cover traces of unwanted tints.
-- Contributed by: Amy FinleyHi! I have brown hair thanks to the miracle of chemistry. I would like to have gray hair again, but find that the strippers warn of ending up with red-orange hair. How can I take the existing dye out and have my white hair without having to just wait for it to grow out? Thank you for any help you can give me.
Sincerely, Tammy Reynolds
