Goininsane - It's natural to lose dozens of strands of hair every day, and it can seem startling! First, you want to be sure that you're eating a diet for healthy hair and drinking plenty of water to keep your hair moisturized. The more you use your straightener, the more your hair will be damaged - you may want to try some different hair styles that don't require heat styling. If your hair is coming out in literal clumps though, or if you notice a bald spot, you should see a doctor for a diagnosis - severe hair loss can be a sign of other medical conditions.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzugh!! I'm a 15 yr old girl and I'm losing my hair. my mom tells me not to stress but it's so hard not to! I'm just too young. it comes out in strands and strands! whether it's brushing my hair or washing it. i've been straightening my hair for a while now. I know it could be that. but i know it's not just that... i heard it could be the water too. i just want a solution for it and i really want it to grow back! any suggestions??
-- Contributed by: goininsane!Vivian - We are not a retailer and do not offer products (fake eyebrows, concealer, etc.) for sale. Our articles are informational, and they should have some ideas for you to begin a search for the right types of products you wish to use. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzWould like to see your false eyebrows and their cost so I can possibly order them. I have alopecia but your website doesn't give any info when I chose "fake eyebrows"
-- Contributed by: VivianOana - Different medications can have an effect on hair loss, but remember that it is normal to lose 100-150 hairs per day. You may simply be noticing it more. If your hair overall is getting much thinner or your see bare patches, you should visit a doctor for a formal diagnosis of what may be causing your hair loss.
-- Contributed by: MayntzMy hair is medium size and it started to fall a lot few weeks ago. I am really stressed cuz of this fact and all the time when I comb it, wash it or straighten it I loose around 20-30 hairs. I even count them :( I am taking Diane 35 because of my zits. Shall this be the cause?
-- Contributed by: OanaEveryone loses hair every day; it's normal to lose 50-150 hairs per day, and that's usually most noticeable when washing or combing your hair. If your hair is falling out in large chunks, however, or if you're developing bald patches because of the loss, you should consult a doctor about possible causes. Otherwise, TR has the right idea -- you need to keep your hair healthy to you can minimize any loss. Consider using a leave-in conditioner as well so you're not combing through tangles that can break your strands. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have alopecia areata and at one point had absolutely no hair. My biggest suggestion is to not use heavy products, let your hair air dry, and minimize your use of curling irons and straightening irons to keep your hair healthy.
-- Contributed by: TRmy hair is very short and whenever i comb it, my falls a lot. What should I do?
-- Contributed by: Enter your name hereHi Monique, There are many volumizing shampoos on he market today that can give the illusion of thicker hair such as Pureology PureVolume Shampoo; however excessive coloring and styling can take a toll on hair. You may want to visit a salon for a hair color consultation to find a shade you love and their recommendation on how often to color your hair to minimize future damage.
-- Contributed by: Amy FinleyI feel the pain of being a woman and losing/thinning hair. There are vitamin supplements. There are shampoos/conditioners and overnight treatments: Frederic Fekkai (the "More" line)and Nioxin. Vitamins and Frederic Fekkai is not a life time commitment- you can stop. Nioxin is like Rogaine- you have to continue. Keep your hair trimmed and clean. Go easy on combing it out, and be gentle styling it.
-- Contributed by: anonymousI am 17 years old and I have been dying my hair black for about a year, and I just recently dyed it back to brown, so as I would not have to dye it as much. When I had black hair, I realized that I was losing a lot of hair and my hair definitly has thinned. I have always had fine/thin hair, but I was wondering if there was a shampoo or something to stop the shedding? I dyed my hair brown as to hope I would not have to dye it as much so my hair would not be as damaged. I just dont want to be bald when I get older. Thankyou, Monique.

-- Contributed by: Mayntzhi, i am a 26 year old female who has always had fine hair, but A LOT of it. my father had a receiding hairline starting at 25, my mother has always had thin hair, and my mom's mom had bald patches and wore a wig starting around her late 50's. For the past couple months, i have noticed my hair thinnning on the top and on the sides, mostly near the top. this concerns me because of my family, even though my co-workers tell me it's stress ( I do have more on my mind lately, but i don't feel stressed). But also i have been bad about taking my birth control lately, which i have been on since my hormones went crazy at 20 years old. What is your professional opinion? a cbc/chem turned out normal at my annual, but i have never done a thyroid. I just hope it's hormones, but i would like to know the cause. thank you, angela
-- Contributed by: angelaSwetha - First, you should consider consulting a physician if your hair loss is severe, because it could indicate a medical condition. Be sure to use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, including regular hot oil treatments, to keep your hair healthy. Eat a diet for healthy hair and drink plenty of water to nourish your hair on the inside, and be sure you are not applying a lot of heavy chemicals or heat treatments that can damage hair.

-- Contributed by: Janjala SwethaCutting your hair would help trim off a lot of damage and would make your hair look healthier immediately; just remember, it can take a long time to grow back out, though severe damage cannot be repaired and will need to be trimmed anyway. A stylist can let you know what type of cut can help conceal the damage with the best look for you.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI HAVE ONE MORE QUESTION.... BUT SHOULD I CUT MT HAIR.
-- Contributed by: celiaCelia - Too many chemical treatments and tight braids can really damage hair, unfortunately. To correct the problem you should consult with an experienced stylist who deals with your hair type frequently, but I'd also recommend avoiding relaxers and other harsh treatments for quite awhile. Be sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating a diet for healthy hair, and use a good strong conditioner. This will help keep your hair from getting even more damaged until you can see a stylist for their recommendations.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI USED TO HAVE NICE, THICK, GROWING HAIR BUT NOW ITS BREAKING OFF REALLY BAD, THIN AS ALL EVER,AND ITS NOT GROWING AT ALL. I THINK IT MIGHT BE DUE TO USING TOO MUCH RELAXER AND PULLING MY HAIR TO TIGHT. RIGHT NOW I HAVE MEDIUM MICRO BRAIDS AND IVE HAD IT IN FOR 1 MONTH. WHAT TREATMENT SHOULD I USE TO HELP? SHOULD I CUT MY HAIR?
-- Contributed by: CELIAElena - You should consult a medical professional to be sure there is no serious underlying condition for your hair loss. You can also try gentler shampoo and conditioner, drink plenty of water, and be sure to be taking a good vitamin. You also may want to be sure you aren't overusing heating tools such as curling irons or hair dryers, and only use accessories (head bands, ponytail holders, etc.) that don't pull on your hair at all. Use a satin pillowcase to ensure you aren't accidentally tangling your hair at night, and try to brush your hair less frequently to avoid too much stress damage. I hope this helps!
