v4mp1r3 - Thanks for the tips -- it is very important to keep hair properly conditioned and protected whenever heat styling is used.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI straighten my hair all the time. for people with damage problems i suggest using hello hydration shampoo and conditioner. use the shampoo every other day, and conditioner everyday. leave conditioner in for about 5 minutes, also, try heat protection!
-- Contributed by: v4mp1r3Danielle, We recently interviewed Beverly Hills hair stylist Jim Wayne who recommends the Hai Nu Hair Stick for straightening. It's bit pricier than standard retail flat irons, but the results might be worth the investment. Best of luck!
-- Contributed by: Amy Finleyyou should try and invest in a more worth while expensive straightener if it is under 50 for long hair it is NO GOOD but for short hair it might be ok but 4 more expensive straighteners they tend to make your hair glossy and they are great for ends.
-- Contributed by: HairLuverWhen i straighten my hair it goes straight, except for at the ends. For some reason it just doesnt straighten, it flips out and it is so annoying. I hate it. Any tips? Im desperate!
-- Contributed by: DanielleI am proud to say my hair is naturally straight therefore curling is my next option.
-- Contributed by: jennyMolly - First you have to remember that those perfect pictures are models who have multiple stylists hovering around them to be sure they do look perfect in the photographs. You can get a great fringe, though, and use a light hair spray to help keep it in place. Be sure to trim it regularly to keep it at the right length, too.
-- Contributed by: MayntzHey, My hair is naturally almost wavyish, i had a perm about a month ago, and now its (on a good day) Like Kate's out of "lost" (TV show wise) I have a fringe that it about to my eyebrows, little longer. Sarah - There are several things you can do to make your hair healthier. First, be sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating a diet for healthy hair to make your hair healthy on the inside. Always use a good conditioner and consider regular deep conditioning or hot oil treatments if your hair is really dry. Use top quality hair products, and use a leave-in conditioner specially formulated to protect against heat styling so the straightening does less damage. Finally, try to skip a day or two of straightening every week so your hair can recover. You can try a lot of other fun styles to keep your hair under control, such as Easy Pony Tail Styles or French Braids. Best wishes!

-- Contributed by: sexy girlAngela - Home treatments are usually less effective than those used in salons, because the professionals have access to stronger solutions that can work better on difficult to straighten hair. If you want to try again on your own, try leaving the treatment on a bit longer but be careful not to leave it on too long -- that could damage the hair and even cause hair loss. Otherwise, consult with a professional about alternatives or stronger methods that may be more effective for the results you want. Best of luck!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have recently home straightened my hair with a perming solution, it has still got a few kinks in it, what should i do?
-- Contributed by: angela gethinOk , my hair is wavy and I've been killing it with the straightener for about 4 years already and I'm sick of it. So, I'm gonna go permantently straighten my hair.
-- Contributed by: KarinaFiona - You may want to add an anti-frizz spritz as you straighten to help your hair stay sleek. Also be sure you are conditioning your hair properly -- dry hair tends to frizz more.
-- Contributed by: MayntzMy Hair Is Frizzy but not curly and takes aages to straighten, any tips on how to keep hair straight?
-- Contributed by: FionaSome people think my hair is nice, because is straight. What do you think?
-- Contributed by: AnnaMy hair is straight and I don't need to use it.
-- Contributed by: Anonymous`I used to straighten my hair but tool some time out but I am going back to it. In answer to meine question - my hair did eventually feel thinner and weaker but this time around as mayntz said i will use moderation and alot of conditioning as well as breaks in between like braidind etc
-- Contributed by: RomaSophie - The types of straighteners you use may or may not be bad for your hair depending on how chemically treated your hair is and how fine the texture is, as well as how frequently use use the straighteners. Your best option is to consult a stylist to get their evaluation.
Meine - If you continually use chemical/heat treatments, yes, it can damage your hair over time which can lead to hair loss. With care, though, such as moderating how much you use, good conditioning, etc., you can minimize those effects.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzi straightn my hair a lot. and i wanted to know if it will eventually make my hair very thin.??? please answer...xx

-- Contributed by: tashai just want good tips to straighten my hair even if i dont have the best products .
-- Contributed by: batwhen straightening the back of a bob if you want it straight just slightly curl it under following your head shape with the edge of the straightners so the hair does not stick out... i have a bob and tht is what i do x
-- Contributed by: lauradonna-people say ghds are good but you can just get other straightners to the same standad... you should go for some with a temperature control so you can adjust the heat temperature on them! you shouldnt use these every day tho as your hair might become very dry and brittle
-- Contributed by: lauraDonna- If your are a licensed hair stylist or a student you should be allowed in an ACE hair supply store....they have really good straighteners....but if you can and have the chance to go to a hair show buy one form there they are really good and have great quality...
-- Contributed by: MegzDonna - You might try Sedu products or Chi; look for a straightening iron that offers adjustable heat control to be sure you can adjust for your hair texture and type.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzdo u no were i can get a good stratner it dont matter how much it is
-- Contributed by: donna huskinsI wouldn't recommend permanent straightening as most methods can be really damaging to your hair. As you mentioned, it is an expensive process, and isn't really permanent since your hair is always growing. Instead, try a good straightening serum (I personally like Tigi's Control Freak) and then either blow your hair dry with a round brush and good blow dryer... or use a quality straightening iron. The straightening iron can damage your hair, so make sure to use it sparingly and condition, condition and condition.

i've been looking for a way to permanently straighten my hair as it is curly and frizzy but everything seems to expensive whats the cheapest way and is it any good on really curly hair
-- Contributed by: sarahhey i have wavy hair and sumtimes can be very hard tu straighten so i use GHDs i would recomend these to anyone they are brilliant....just a quick question i have longish hair but am thinkin about gettin it cut short how would i straighten the bac of the bob?x
-- Contributed by: laurai have very thick very curly hair. i have a great creamic and i can go all day sleek and straight all about the straightener (and i use a good conditioner)
-- Contributed by: HeatherI love my new Sedu straightening iron! I originally purchased a different brand over 2 years ago, but didn't use it very often because it wrecked my hair. So I have been diligently searching and reading every review on every straightening iron to make sure that I didn't buy one like that again! I was a little skeptical to purchase this one because of the price, but after reading everyone's rave reviews I decided to take the plunge and I am glad I did. If you are like me, and a little hesitant to purchase this one because of the price, don't be!! It is well worth the money! I use it 2-3 times a week and haven't seen one split end yet! Great job Sedu.
-- Contributed by: straighthairedA perm can work to give you loose waves, but it depends on what your hair is like to begin with. If it is curly or stick straight and fine, this might be a hard look for you to achieve.
Also, even with a perm, you will have to use product and some styling to maintain this look.
-- Contributed by: Ann M.hi, i want a loose tousled wave, but i dont want to mess around, is there any way i can get a perm for this look?
-- Contributed by: charlieStraightening can be very traumatic for hair -- it really forces the cortex (the center of the hair) to assume a shape that isn't natural to it, and heat straightening in particular can dry out hair and make it more brittle, so it is more likely to be damaged. Try using conditioner and avoid straightening every day if you can so your hair has a chance to recover. Also try to avoid other intense treatments like lots of chemicals, dye, etc. Drink lots of water, and check out our other tips for split ends and bad hair days to find other ways to recover. This will help your hair stay healthier!
-- Contributed by: Mayntzyeah i had a question about straightening my hair ....i usually straighten it almost everyday and i use to have alot of hair now im noticing that i have a little less what can i do should i stop well write back as soon as possible thanks.!
