I use a mixture of distilled water, apple cider vinegar and glycerin to moisturize my natural hair when it gets dry and itchy. When it isn't itchy I use the mixture without apple cider vinegar add a few drops of Jojoba oil, rosemary oil and an drop of essential fragrance oil (rose or jasmine in the summer) (lemongrass and lavender in the winter). It works for my natural hair.

A lot of great tips in your article. I also want to thank sunnydays13 for her recommendation about satin pillowcases. I went to A Touch Of Satin as you suggested and I ordered a set of standard size in a beautiful beige. They were absolutely gorgeous. They look fantastic on my bed and my hair AND skin look and feel terrific. My hair isn't dried out like its been for years and my skin feels much smoother and no dry spots! I recommend A Touch Of Satin to all of my friends.

Last week Kelly Ripa was raving about how great satin pillowcases are and that her hair stylist had her switch to satin. Kelly is so happy and she told her audience to all switch to satin. Now my friends think I'm a genius! Thanks!!!

One thing that you can do to help dry hair is to sleep on a satin pillowcase. Your hair slides across the top of satin and doesn't get caught in the fibers as it does with cotton. Cotton also absorbs all the vital oils and moisture out of your hair. Those oils are necessary for healthy hair follicles to grow. Cotton also causes friction which causes your hair to frizz up,dry out, have split ends and hair breakage. I found a site that has amazing satin pillowcases. You might want to give them a look. The company is A Touch Of Satin. Google them and see what they have. They even had a page on their site that talked about how good satin is for your hair and skin. Good luck!

This was really helpful. Using honey and olive oil as a pre-shampooing treatment really makes ones hair soft and it smells good.
