Swimmer, If you prefer not to wear a cap, there are leave in products available to help protect your hair from sun and chlorine, for example Lanza Swim and Sun Daily UV Protector. You can also use shampoos and conditioners formulated for after swim care to help reduce the amount of damage done by the water and pool chemicals.

Straightening irons and blow drying can help transform curly hair and create straighter styles, but very curly hair may be more difficult to get super straight. Jackie - The only way to fix breakage is to trim it out; you can also investigate hair extensions to hide the short hair while you're growing it, but be aware that too many extensions or harsh treatments may damage your hair even more.

Ki Ki - You should consult a dermatologist who can help treat your scalp and can investigate if there is another cause to your dandruff. They can also prescribe specialized shampoos, topical creams, or other medication to help.

Hi during the winter I had a LOT of dandruff and I scratched my head a lot. and now I have lots of sores on my head. and can't stop scratching what should I do?

Alicia - Rubbing your scalp and pulling your hair won't do anything to make it grow, but you could easily damage the hair so it breaks and grows more slowly. Follow these tips well, and in a few months you'll really see some length -- just remember, hair doesn't grow fast no matter what you do!

hey do you think that rubbing your scalp and pulling on the roots of the hair just a little would stimulate blood flow and make it grow faster. Im so sick and tierd of waiting for my hair to get long and sexy what could i do in the mean time?? thanks

Lauren - When hair is damaged, it can be very difficult to grow because the split ends can continue fraying all the way up the strand of hair. I'd recommend trimming off as much as you can or are comfortable with so you can eliminate most of the damage. The tips in this article can then help you grow the rest of your hair out more quickly.

I had lovely wavey golden hair about 3 yrs ago, but i got it cut, layered and dyed blonder. It has now gone frizzy and the roots of my hair are way darker than the rest of it. I dont want to dye it again but it's taking forever to grow. I want to get it long so i can cut the dyed part off but it dont look like it's growing at all, what should i do?

Mana - Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of Split Ends is to trim them off. It will seem difficult at first, but then you can start growing your hair long and keeping it healthy, and you'll be surprised at how fast it can grow.

My hair used to be very long and curly, it looked like princess hair, then I cute it to my neck when I was 9-10. It looked terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was soooo sad I really missed my long curly hair!

start by trying to grow it in to a stacked bob. or a swing bob. a stylist can help you with that. as it grows I hate to say it but you will have to deal with the awkward growing out stage but it will be worth it. the biggest thing is when something starts to bother you go ask a stylist what you can do to make it stop. dont wait cause you will get fed up and cut it all off again.

i had extremely long hair all the way down my back and last week i had it cut into a bob.....the biggest mistake of my life! i have hardly left the house and i am only wearing my hair up, except i have to use lots of clips to make all the layers stay in place. so, from now on, i am not straightening colouring or blow drying my hair until it has grown out.....i know its going to take a long time but i miss my long hair so much, i am just taking this as a healthy new start for my hair, but i would do ANYTHING to have it back again! i am going to be completely healthy.....and i cant wait until it has gown out......thanks for the advice though.

how do you grow out hair that is long on one side but short on the other? and short in that back.

-- Contributed by: Ali

Excellent advice. I have learned that trimming my hair every 2 months is better than getting 4 inches lopped off every 6 months.
