Topazchick - Wavy hair can be hard to manage when it's wet, but you can try getting a small bottle of a leave-in conditioner or anti-frizz serum to carry in a gym bag or purse so you'll always have some emergency tools. If your hair is long enough, a ponytail can also be a quick "emergency" style to keep your hair under control until you have a chance to style it the way you'd like.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzwhat do you do with your wavy hair when you get wet and are not at home? how do you make it presentable when you step out of the swimming pool, etc. without spending time on it?
-- Contributed by: topazchickChelsey - You can try a better conditioner (get a salon quality variety) to help moisturize your hair and tame the frizz, and there are anti-frizz serums that you can leave in your hair. Be sure you are drinking plenty of water as well, that will help moisturize your hair from within. To thin out your look, consider some added layers to remove the bulk but leave the topmost layer (from the crown of your head) as the longest so it will help weigh down your style to smooth it out. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: Mayntzugh i need help :S ive tried a lot with my hair, and i still cant seem to get all of the frizz away from me. My hair is very thick, and wavy....but i want to thin it out or something...make it more managable. Do you have any tips ? Greatly Appreciated if you do.
-- Contributed by: Chelsey LoveThanks for the tip, Erin! Many people don't leave conditioner in long enough for it to be as effective as it can be.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI've discovered if you shampoo then rinse, apply and leave the conditioner in your hair wrapped up in a towel for like 20 minutes and then gently rinse it out it reduces frizzies, fly aways, and dry ends , helps dry flaky scalp, and controls your waves making them soft and glamorous!

A good Conditioner is very helpful for controlling frizz, and you can consider a leave-in conditioner or anti-frizz serum for added help. If she uses a straightening iron, be sure to read the directions carefully so she is using it properly, and it can be worthwhile to get a higher quality iron that may do a better job with her hair. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: Mayntzmy daughter has VERY think and wavy hair that was out of control. We got her a new razor cut that looked great (at the salon) Now she struggles to straighten it everyday and it still frizzes and doesn't "behave" well. What style products do we need?
-- Contributed by: Terri MHi Kassie, Layered styles can work on those who struggle with frizzy hair, but they do increase volume which you may not need. Curly or wavy hair in layered cuts typically looks best with longer subtle layers, rather than short choppy ones; however, if you have a good hairstylist, he or she can work with your hair type to give you the cut (and show you how to style) your hair for the look you want. -- Contributed by: Amy Finleymy hair is somewhat wavy and very frizzy. i want to get short layered hair but im not sure it would look ok. i also want a style where i can just add a little product and go. can you please help me!
-- Contributed by: kassieHi Teresa, To straighten your hair without damaging it, Beverly Hills stylist Jim Wyne recommends the HAI NU Stik ceramic flat iron. Also - check out our recent interview on Styling Tips for Wavy Hair. The stylist we interviewed give some great tips. You may also want consider using hair products that don't contain alcohol as these can be drying and damaging to hair and make styling more difficult. Best of luck!
-- Contributed by: Amy Finleyi have very thick, wavy (almost curly) hair. i like the straight look, but don't want to burn my hair. i wouldn't mind leaving it natural, except it always looks messy and unstyled. i don't like the feeling of dirty or crispy hair that tends to occur when i put style products in my hair. what can i do to keep my hair smooth but styled...oh yeah...without blowdrying it?
-- Contributed by: teresamy hair is thick and heavy and its very poofy, the strands seem to separate, but i have a ton of hair, its impossible to blow dry, im only 11 so i cant take that time. i like my hair to be straight but i cant straighten it. i tried layers but it didnt work and they have grown out but i have a side bang now, and i just dont know what to do. i really like "emo" haircuts. but i am not sure a haircut would help. can u help me?
-- Contributed by: carriemy hair is so wierd. its wavy but VERY poofy. i have a strict budget and i want that "surfer girl" wavy. can you help me?
-- Contributed by: BrianneMerian - Be sure your hair is moisturized by drinking plenty of water and using a good conditioner. That will help keep it under control more, and you can use a light smoothing serum or light hold hair spray for more control.
-- Contributed by: MayntzMy hair is a bet wavy with dry strands. I kept my hair in ponytail so that it will hold. What possible advise you can share with me.
-- Contributed by: merianAlyssa - You may want to try a smoothing serum or leave-in conditioner to help tame your hair easily. Some can be applied to either wet or dry hair, and they should help keep it under control for you. You can also try adding layers that will make it less thick and somewhat more manageable for you.
-- Contributed by: MayntzMy hair is so out of control. Its thick, wavy, and it's always frizzy. I have a disability, so I cant walk without braces on my legs, plus my hands are messed up. I try to do the best as I can with my hair, but it doesn't seem to help at all. I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, but I don't know what will look good on me. I currently use a conditioning cream by Garnier Fruitis but it only helps for when I pull my hair half up or in a ponytail. Does anyone know any good products for when I wear my hair down that I can just brush through my hair?
-- Contributed by: AlyssaAlyssia - A lot of punk styles use strong sprays or gels to hold the style in place, so you could certainly manage that no matter how thick or wavy your hair is, if you use a strong enough product. Another option would be to go for a funky color but not a sculpted style.
