I used L'oreal Excellence Creme hair color in the shade of Light Beige Brown. The results were very dark, a very deep brown resulted, almost black. No shine either. Definately not the color pictured on the box! After 3 washings, it remains dark..
-- Contributed by: Betty MurrayWhile holidaying in the USA, I found that the colour 7 1/2A Medium Ash Blonde in the L'Oreal Preference range suits my hair very well. On returning to Europe I can't find this colour code. Could you please tell me the European quivalent colour code. Thank you.
-- Contributed by: JackieVery glad you like the L'Oreal colors, Yvonne! Thanks for sharing!
-- Contributed by: MayntzMonica - You should check with local salons and stylists for products available in your area, or search online for similar products you can order. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzThank you for your haircolor. I have been using number 117 medium golden brown, but lately I switched to 118 which is a darker brown. I wasn't quite sure at first, but it looks wonderful on me. I am 55 years old and I do not plan on growing old gracefully. I need my haircolor, so thank you.
-- Contributed by: Yvonne BeresI live in Israel and have been using Dedicace semi-permanent hair color for many years with much success. Lately, Dedicace has been discontinued. What coloring product that has no amonia or peroxide that is available in Israel should I use instead?
-- Contributed by: Monica SchuldinerThanks for the tip, gammaqueen!
-- Contributed by: MayntzMary, you should try using a protien filler. You can get one at your beauty supply store.
-- Contributed by: gammaqueenMary - Not all hair will hold color well, it all depends on the texture and condition of your hair and the products and dye you choose. You can experiment with different brands to find one that works best, or visit a salon for a professional hair color consultation to see what will get you the color you want.
-- Contributed by: MayntzUg - Check out Hair Color for African American Women for recommendations and ideas to find the right hair color for you. L'Oreal may not be the best brand, but you can get ideas to try different products and find what works for you.

I have natural/ texturized hair. Please could you tell me which L' Oreal hair color is best for african natural hair which is a bit curly? Thanks.
-- Contributed by: UgKathee - You will need to be very careful mixing different products; they may very well react poorly and give you totally unexpected color results. Your best bet is to get a hair color consultation with an experienced stylist who can find a professional blend for you, and they should be willing to offer recommendations for products you can try at home to replicate the look. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzI started using L'Oreal Feria - 120 Platinum Crystal (Hi-Lift Ash Blonde) - and soon after it was discontinued. Can anyone suggest a mixture of my own using L'oreal product to achieve the same. Ive tried all other L'oreal, Preference, Excellence, amd the rest. None of them lft out the red to achieve the ash blonde. Please help!
-- Contributed by: KatheeEileen - Unfortunately, every manufacturer's formula may work differently on your hair. I'd recommend sampling different products on a small section or lock of your hair to determine what the results may be. You can also consult with a professional colorist for their evaluation based on your hair texture and type.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have used L'oreal #120 Platinum Crystal (Hi-Lift Ash Blonde) for years, but it has been discontinued. Can you recommend a product that will give me similar results without red and orange undertones?
-- Contributed by: eileenIda - You can try online retailers that may carry that specific line and shade, or you can compare shades from other product lines to find a similar color that will work for you. Unfortunately, stores do adjust what products they carry and manufacturers do discontinue products, so you'll want to try to find something else that is convenient for your use. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzHave used L'oreal Preference shade "iridescent blonde" for years and now cannot find it in my usual stores. Help!
-- Contributed by: IdaLisa - Try just a shade or two lighter in the same color line, or use the same dye but keep in in a shorter period of time so the contrast isn't as great. You can also get a professional consultation to see what shades will work best for you and what a colorist recommends.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI have been using thelight brown 51 hair color. It is too dark.I don't want togo blonde so what shade do you reccomend? my hairs has a few hints of red shades in it but I don't want to go red
-- Contributed by: LisaJoyce - Hair companies change product lines rather frequently; I'd recommend checking online for discontinued products, or investigating similar products that may offer the same results under a different name or brand.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI recently purchased(about 8 weeks ago) your No Ammonia Highlighting creme for color treated hair The Rxcellence Cremelights , I loved this product, but everywhere I go its not on the shelf. Would like to know if this product is discontinued or if a new product is taking its place. Thank you for helping.Joyce.
-- Contributed by: JOYCE COLLINSCarolyn - You should check local retailers who specialize in beauty products; contact local hair salons to see if they carry the right lines, or ask about direct retailers. If it's not possible to find, you can try other products with similar shades to what you're looking for -- consulting a stylist can help find just the right products you'd need.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI live in Savannah, GA 31410, USA. Would like to purchase L'Oreal semi- permanent hair toner without bleach and ammonia. Can you tell me where to find this product?
-- Contributed by: Carolyn CooperSamantha - You can try other product lines with similar shades, or check out the new L'Oreal colors at a local store to see what matches your look best. Be aware, however, that different lines may perform differently in your hair and you'll need to be cautious when using a new product.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI used to use Feria Mango but this colour has been discontinued. Is there another product that has the same or a similar colour to the Mango? There's an ad on TV for new L'Oreal hair colours do they have copper shades?
-- Contributed by: SamanthaKaaren - Depending on where you buy your hair products, they may just be low on supplies for their most popular shades. Try different stores that carry L'Oreal products, or consult with a professional colorist about alternatives with the same hue.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI use L'Oreal every 4 to 6 weeks. I use #6R, but I'm having difficulty finding this particular shade lately. I hope this is not going to be discontinued, because I've tried other shades, and they are just not the one I want.
-- Contributed by: Kaaren LynchI love this hair color product.
-- Contributed by: Kay JohnsonCarole -- if your hair isn't damaged and you don't use other harsh treatments or heat styling, you should be able to recolor effectively after 3-4 weeks. If you do have other hair problems, you'll want to let your hair recover as long as possible before each coloring treatment so it can stay healthier. You may also want to try other tricks to preserve your color, such as not washing as frequently (if you can), and staying out of the sun or wearing hats to keep the UV rays away from your hair.
-- Contributed by: MayntzI love the Loreal Dark Blond and have been using it for a while. It seems to fade after 3 weeks. Is that too soon to recolor my hair?
-- Contributed by: caroleI have been using Loreal Technique Preference 10.1 mixed with 40 vol. purchased from Sally Beauty Products for over a year and have been very happy with it. But now they tell me that it is no longer available. I tried the 10 but it still left my roots with an "orange" look. Can you recommend an equivalent product or where I could continue to purchase the product?
