LisaMay - The only way to get rid of Split Ends is by trimming them off, unfortunately. You may be able to try a layered hairstyle that will trim off most of your dead ends without sacrificing as much length. Be sure you are eating a Diet for Healthy Hair and drinking plenty of water to nourish your hair, and use a good Conditioner to keep it smooth and silky.
-- Contributed by: MayntzHelp! I have had long hair for a long time, but I just recently started actually caring about it. Haha. Anyways, my hair comes to about my lower back, and it has so much potential beauty, but it has been through so many years of careless brushing that there are split ends all the way up to the top. Are there any ways I can save my hair without cutting it all off?
-- Contributed by: LisaMayThanks for sharing, Whitney!
-- Contributed by: MayntzMissy, Gurl dont chop it becouse someone wants u to. i regretted cutting all my off. that was the biggest mistake of my life and i would advise u to just take a little and layer it wouldnt look very drastic but it will be a change and go for the sweep bangs across ur face. -- Contributed by: -missy-Colleen - As Kate said, there are products specifically formulated to help control frizz and curl. You can also try switching to a satin pillowcase so your hair doesn't get as tangled, which will help reduce frizz.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzhi colleen, if you use big and sexy spray moose or catwalk crul stuff works the best!!! i fill for you !! i have really curlly and frizzy hair
-- Contributed by: kateHi,
I have long, dark brown, wavy hair that can get very frizzy at times. I have been trying different ways of wearing my hair down with a little more curl than i have naturally but with out a useing ton of sprays & gels, but at the same time making it look natural. I would also perfer it sleep on it since I take my showers at night.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME??!!!
-- Contributed by: ColleenHi Steph, You can get curls without perms. You can try using a curling iron (use a smaller barrel for tighter curls, and make sure to use a heat protectant spray prior to curling). You can also try using rollers or vintage curling methods such as the pin curls use in styles like Rockabilly Hair. You could also try curly hair extensions. Best of luck.
-- Contributed by: Amy FinleyHI, I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW HOW TO MAKE MY HAIR CURLY AS IT IS NATURALLY STRAIGHT. iS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN MAKE IT CURLY WITH OUT PERMS, CHEMICALS, ETC.
-- Contributed by: stephJenn - First, you want to be sure your hair is healthy. Yes, that may mean trimming off the worst ends, but you can also try better moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, as well as a strengthening serum or leave-in conditioner. That will also help it not to tangle as badly. Avoid as many heat and chemical treatments as possible, eat a diet for healthy hair, and drink plenty of water to keep your locks lovely.
-- Contributed by: MayntzSo, I've got long-ish hair (it comes down about halfway down my back. It's unusually thin, and tangles VERY easily. I take good care of my hair NOW, but apparently when I was younger I didn't because the ends are all dead and if I wanted completely healthy hair, my hairdresser says I'd have to cut it pretty much all off (eek! can you say bad hair day?). I'm not sure what kind of look that I can do with it so that I don't have the same, dead looking hair style day after day. I've also got side bangs.. any suggestions as to how I could do something with my hair without a curling iron? (I DO have a straightener which I've used to curl my hair before, but I don't have the money to go out and buy specific products for it so the curl doesn't usually stay. I've got hair spray and gel, and that's it.)
-- Contributed by: JennShannon - It certainly sounds as if you are taking good care of your hair if you condition and use specialized products as you describe. A loose, wavy perm won't be as harsh on your hair as a tighter curl, so you can certainly give it a try. Another option may be to try to go back to your natural color a bit more, or add hair lowlights shades to help transition the color so it doesn't need color treatments quite as frequently. The best thing you can do, however, is to consult with an experienced stylist - they can give good recommendations for the condition of your hair and the look you want. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzHelp....I have long very straight, fine hair, it is also somewhat thick. I want to do something different with it so bad, but I don't think I am ready to lose my length, it is past the center of my back. I love that it is versatile, and i keep it trimmed so it is well maintained. Big problem I also have heavy highlights put in it to maintain the color I want, which is blond so it is very processed. I also swim alot in the summer. I condition it well and often, but it still tangles awfull especially latley it seems. Could it be because our water is extremely hard? I use shampoo and conditioner for hard water, but I also alternate and deep condition. I want a somewhat lose perm because I think it will help with tangles and give me a change. But so many tell me not to because it will fry my already processed hair. Im just blah with my hair right now! Everyone says its so pretty, but to me its just an old mess! Any good advice? Thanks so much!
-- Contributed by: ShannonOh, I have waist length super long hair. A must have is Sauve Coconut Conditioner. I use a wide toothed comb with dipped ends so no tearing. Can't live without the Sauve Coconut - no other conditioner will do - not even expensive ones...and it HAS to be the coconut - put it on wet hair and you have instant silk sliding through your comb. I rarely wash my hair, I am dry by nature (not oily skinned).
-- Contributed by: NamasteBambi - Your hair is probably tangling more in the winter because it is drier. Try a stronger conditioner to add moisture, and be sure you are drinking plenty of water. You can also get an occasion deep conditioning treatment or hot oil treatment at a salon to give your hair extra moisture in the winter.
-- Contributed by: MayntzDo you have any tips for winter tangles? I have long straight hair and every winter it gets the most nasty tangles at the back at the nape of my neck. I always get them out carefully but it's annoying. Is there a way to prevent them or a product you can suggest? I never get this problem in the summer.
-- Contributed by: BambiI have short, fine, and straight hair. I have wanted to grow my hair out for a long, long, time but it tends to get weighed down and hard to take care of while I try to grow it out. So, if I can for sure this time not run to get it cut - obviously I will do okay.
-- Contributed by: SusanHELP - Opt for layered hair styles that keep long layers on the top but will lighten the hair so it has more volume and body. That should give it more bounce and liven up your look.
-- Contributed by: MayntzFweemee - Layers can look great with a round face, simply draw more attention to the eyes or other facial features you'd like to emphasize while minimizing the cheeks (the widest part of the face).
-- Contributed by: Mayntzi have super long naturally straight hair and don't do much with it... any suggestions for a cut that leaves length but has more life than just leaving it hanging there?
-- Contributed by: HELP!!!I think layers look great with thick hair
-- Contributed by: Amandai have a kinda round face!would layers look stupid?
-- Contributed by: fweemeeMany layers on thick hair may add too much volume depending on your face shape. At the same time, however, layers can lighten up your style to give it more versatility. It just depends on the look you're going for and what you already have to work with.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzi have long thick hair but i was wondering would loads and loads of layrz look to silly?
-- Contributed by: meYall need to get more pictures of long haired up-dos and hair-cuts
-- Contributed by: RachaelLong hair can look lifeless... Many people put too much product in their hair to ward off split ends and other things. When your hair is flat and dull, you may have product buildup, which is the result of using a 2in1 shamoo/conditioner.. or--too much product... My hair is unnaturally thin and it is a medium brown shade, so by the end of the day it is looking flat and greasy if I don't do anything to it.. but there's hope!!!! Everyday I tease/ backcomb my hair then I use a vent brush to smooth just the top layer of hair(if you brush it all out the poof will be GONE) then I place my hand on the back of my head- just below my crown and gently push my hair up so it looks like I've got a pretty good poof goin on... then I spray it with FREEZE hairspray (get it at your local armstrong mccall or sally's store- the cheapest kind is usually the best- I just switched to "New Image" in the tall green and white can)and spray, not spritz, SPRAY your hair.... Take a comb with a metal pick on the end and "pick up" your poofie!!! Your hair should hold all day! No more flat, lifeless hair!!! Also, for side bangs, tease them just a tiny bit and use the pick to slightly comb through... place bangs where desired, and freeze them... unless they're messed with they should stay all day!!!
Good Luck!!!

-- Contributed by: Anonymoushey u might want to try a headband
-- Contributed by: donna huskinsDayana - You might try a French Twist or use something like a claw hair accessory. A simple head band can help keep your hair under control without a hassle, too.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzi have the same problem that when it rains my hair gets wavy & sometimes i get tired of wear my hair down.... what other styles can i do or are easy to wear for school?
-- Contributed by: dayanaMy hair has never been cut and it is about 5 inches past the bottom of my rear. I don't believe that you have to have it cut for it to grow better. Your hair grows from your roots, not from the ends. Plus, my hair doesn't have very many split ends anyways. There are products you can use, like hot oil treatments that work great. I'm pretty sure that people are full of it whenever they say that you need to cut your hair to make it grow longer.
-- Contributed by: pinkmy hair is long and jet black no other colors or nothing and i don't get perms i get it pressed and my hair is about 5 inches from my bottom and i wear a differnt hairstlye everyday and i love it only problem is when it rain but my hair is kinda wavy like chillli
-- Contributed by: lovelyi have long hair too and i think that another nice way to wear your hair is to curl it but not too much then when you have done that put in a nice head band and dont put it behind your ears it looks really nice if you have the time and patience to dont it xxx
-- Contributed by: sophiemy hair is long about to my middle back and is straight. I am bored with my hair styles that is I leave it down, braid it and put it up in a pony tail. My mom says I can't get bangs so what do i do? Please help me get free of being bored with my hair!
-- Contributed by: Sarahi have long hair also.. my birthday is tomorrow...but i dont know how to do my hair if im wearing a v-nek dress.. please help!!
-- Contributed by: dianaHi Jennifer,
While long hair can be gorgeous, its own weight often makes it look lifeless. To give your hair a bit more vibrancy, I would suggest some long layers -- these can take on different looks, whether you choose choppy layers or a more blended layered look. Long layers can perk up your style while leaving you with plenty of length. Check out Layered Hair Styles or Long Layered Hair Styles for ideas. Good luck!

-- Contributed by: Jenniferid like a haircut that fits me i want something that nobodys really got something to put myself out not emo or girly lookn
-- Contributed by: chelseamy hair is almost to my butt i am getting married soon and i don't like my hair up i will be wearing a tiara not sure how that will work just wandering if you have any ideas i like the layed look curled on the ends with the wispies angled towards my face but once i curl it it falls out within a half an hour and is just frizzy and i can't get my fingers through it making it look worse than i started any advice also when i go to the beauty solon and tell them that i want layers you can barely tell it's been cut or they chop it and it looks thick and puffy to my shoulders then what is underneath looks out of place and crapy why can't they get it right
-- Contributed by: LisaYou might consider some different things -- bangs are a good option, but if you don't want to cut your hair that way, you can leave some tendrils out of the ponytail to help frame your face and take attention away from the hairline. Another option is to keep the ponytail loose so your hair isn't tight against your scalp -- that won't exactly distract from the hairline, but it won't seem so severe.
-- Contributed by: Mayntzwhen my hair is ina pony tail it looks bad. my hairline is quite far back. any suggestions on how to have it in a pony without showing my bad hairline?
-- Contributed by: sezi have very long hair that goes down to my elbows. i straightenit but thats all i can do. i really want a side fringe but need a new do for school. HELP!!
-- Contributed by: sezWell, of course, you always have the option to grow your hair to a style you like. But, meantime... medium length hair like yours is actually incredibly popular and versatile. Do you have some light, long layers? That can give your hair a lot more shape. Or, check out some of the great available hair accessories. Try using a small elegant clip to pull the front part your hair back of your face for a simple, casual but pretty style.
-- Contributed by: Ann M.Hi. I have just under shoulder length hair. I am limited to what I can do. I can straighten it, sort of curl it and put it up but it still looks silly. Theres a pretty girl at school with long hair and it always looks amazing. What can I do to be like that? Kelly
