Very helpful! Everytime I get braids I have to get my hair trimed and it appears to be more unhealthy. I will try these methods next time!
-- Contributed by: TammyHi Jaz, Keeping braids soft and moisturized can help to loosen them. Try using leave in conditioners or oils formulated for your hair type. If you notice pulling or tension around the edges of the scalp, try applying the oil or conditioner to the area as well. If you want to loosen the braids to remove them, try using a professional braid loosening spray product.

If your micros are very long, you may want to use a headscarf or headband to keep them from swinging around and putting even more pressure on your scalp. You can get conditioners for sensitive skin and that may help, or else you'll have to wait until your scalp adjusts to the new pressure - some mild painkillers can make it more tolerable in the meantime.
