There are many mohawk variations -- if the central stripe is very distinct, it really doesn't matter how flat or tall it may be; the style will be easily recognized.

John, you are right -- it's not a real Mohawk -- but, it is a great way for people to get a taste of the Mohawk style without the commitment of the full cut.

The picture with the caption "Simple Casual Mohawk" is NOT a mohawk. That is a fauxhawk. I would know...because I have one.
