Amabel - You should visit several salons first to find one that not only has experienced stylists, but also where you feel comfortable. You can ask around for recommendations, or call the salons and ask if they do complimentary consultations - many salons will offer that service.

Hi Liz, Celebrity Stylist Nedjeti answers this question in an interview on African American natural hair. Nedjetti's personal transition was to use a box braid style and slowly grow out her natural hair, eventually cutting off the damaged, previously relaxed hair. Best of luck!

Hello, I am in need of some advice if possible. I want to grow my hair out naturally. Currently I have a relaxer in it. and I am thinking about cutting it off, but I am a bit afraid of the outcome. I don't have really course hair, and I have a slightly different texture on one half of my head than the other half. Could you please offer up some suggestions on the best course of action to begin my natural process. Thank You
