Lindsay - You may want to darken your color a bit with lowlights, or you could taper the bangs more sharply to add more definition to your cut. Try to grow out some of the layers too, to make a it a more stark style.

I have short red hair...i straighten it all the time....i have side bangs and alot of layers...but it still doesnt look emo!!! GRR

Look I am an emo so take my advice. What you should do is go to a salon and get professionaly straightened although this may be expensive it does last a while and it may cause some demage to your hair btu nothing that can not be fixed. And if the straightening with a an iron doesn't work maybe you should try using a different technique this is what i do. i seperate my hair into three seperate layers (top, middle and bottom) I tie the top two up and straighten the beottom one but with the hair that you are going to straighten out a very very light coat of hairspray on then straighten it and the na afterwards once it is straightened to your satisfaction spray with another light coat of hairspray. repeat this withh all layers of your hair and then spray with another coat of hairspray to keep it in place and i guarentee it will sat striaght and i know this cuause i have curly hair and it works for me! So trust e on it.

Arya - Not everyone's hair straightens or smoothes the same. Because your hair seems to be a bit more difficult, I'd recommend going to a hair salon and having it done first. You can ask the stylist for tips to help keep the look the way you want it, and you may need to use more expensive tools or products to help maintain the look properly.

i did some smoothing to my hair, i tried to make it straight but it seems to be failing, my hair starts to regain its natural style that is very thick and wavy...

(my hair is wavy not curly)

what should i do? some of my friend suggests me to buy a "perming iron" and using some leave on conditioner...

i need some advice, thanks.

Ashley - You may need to use hair gel to help keep your bangs flat. Work the gel in when your hair is wet and it will be easier. Keep your bangs a bit longer, too -- that it not only more classically "emo" but it will add weight that can help hold them down.

well..i have curly hair too, but a main thing emo kidds do too their hair is straighten it, plus when you go to get your hair cut all emo-like, ask them to thin it out, its no big deal..
