Sarah - Whether or not the dishwashing soap method works for you depends on the type of dye you used and the texture of your hair. It could be helpful to try it for a quick wash first to see if the foam is tinted; if it is, then it is removing at least some of the dye.

Beckiie - Black hair can be difficult to put highlights in because the hair color is so stark and dramatic. If you want to cover the highlights, the best way may be an overall dye job by a professional that could help lighten the black and cover the highlights simultaneously.

I found that by using a cream cleanser such as Jiff helped me the most when i tried to strip color from my hair.

i dyed my hair black, and i have bad dandruff, so i have to use denorex. i find that it really lifts the color, when i shampoo my head the foam has a black tint to it. every time i use it, my hair lightens. try it maybe, just use a good conditioner after because it makes your hair somewhat dry.

Does dishwasher soap actually work?

Urgh, I've just attempted to put highlights through black hair and the result is horrible. I now have patches of blonde, brown, red and of course black. I've been told to use the anti-dandruff shampoo method so i'll see how that goes.
